All that you said is true, but I think it's orthogonal to what I was wondering about -- actually, it just raised more questions for me. The common legal advice is "do not talk to cop", which presumably because on average, you

The question that I have every time I read about something similar to this is not about the law itself, but about the human who's applying the law: how/ why/ what is the line of thought that would lead them to (supposedly) kn

What does it mean? Is it that the '84-'84 age group has always been the median since the first YC? (Ie. the median is increasing every year?)

In the analogy of nuclear bomb, it's more likely than not a public awareness of nuclear power would have prevented nuclear plant (the good thing), nuclear bomb (the bad thing) is extremely unlikely to not be developed anyway.

Seems like it's a popular sentiment to think of Elon Musk as Tony Stark ;). I believe you mean to say "Gates, Hawking and Musk". Stark doesn't tend to talk about AI, he build them.

To expand on this a bit, for better or worse, most of human's collective knowledge is still locked up in people head, be it cutting edge researching knowledge, industrial mainstream knowledge, or obscure hobby one. Notice that how in p

Everything you said is correct! There was just a few details I didn't have in my post that make it slightly confusing. "Spreading the work as evenly as possible" and "From each according to his ability, to each according

"Spreading the work as evenly as possible" is not communist ethos (likewise, evenly distribution of wealth is also not communist ethos). "From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs" is the classic

Not to contradict your post. But Stanford is equivalent in term of prestige to any Ivy out there, including Harvard. It seems like you agree with GP so that's probably just a wording matter.

Very minor thing, but funny enough, I was working with MySQL just earlier and need to use my one in a blue moon quota of Full Join ... turned out MySQL doesn't have it :( (yes, I know how to emulate it with union).

In my experience, the gap from 7k to 3k actually is mostly about the sense of the game, rather than skill and technique. To be precise, I don't think reading skill is that much difference, but 3k know better what to read, what constitu
