As a non-hardware backer myself, I'm not hugely bothered. But many of us did a non-hardware-tier backing to receive the cool technical updates, which will now be scaled back or discontinued. Personally, I'm hoping we get a discoun

The awesome little cheap Windows 8.1 (or 10) tablets with the quad core Atom processors and 1GB RAM are great, and Chrome/Opera runs just fine on them. Firefox though, is like trying to run through molasses. I run Firefox on my laptop,

I switched to Opera to escape some of Google's tentacles, and that was a smooth transition. If you want a compromise, it's worth a shot. I then went the whole hog to Firefox. uBlock Origin, Self Destructing Cookies, and a VPN (Pri

That depends, because you can actually recover it for free over a long enough time period. It's easy if you plan your file sizes in advance based on your allowance, and don't need it in a hurry. Your bill is based on your peak ret

The signal app, the one that shows me how strong my mobile signal is? Yes. (Annoyingly only for one SIM though.) "The app called Signal" would be the only sensible way to do it that I can immediately see, but it's still clums

As was mentioned on another HN thread, why the ridiculous name? "Signal" is an already widely used term when talking about mobile communications. With cell phones in particular. "I'm trying to get signal on my phone"

Frankly it is a stupid choice. "Have you got signal?", "Get signal so I can message you!" It is already a widely used word relating to cell phones. Even with context, it's not obvious which "Signal" one is

In the immediate term, no, it shouldn't. The update was rejected, but the already published version remains up. There's nothing catastrophic in the earlier version. In the medium term, yes, because if this issues can't be res

I think OP's actions were proportional to the offense. You slag someone (or someone's work) off in public, and/or rip someone off publicly, you should expect to be publicly flogged.

If you just went to that thread 15 hours ago, you did not read the original answers. It was vastly different before it was edited. It was unreadable for me. 68 words in the opening sentence for one of the replies.

Depends. The main point the author in the OP doesn't seem to understand: Know your audience. "Dumb down" your writing, but only if it will help you communicate with the person (or people) you're targeting. Else there

I think I'll hold off upgrading to 10 until it's closer to being finished. Right now, it shouldn't have left beta. Still, on the plus side, it'll probably be lucrative for IT techs when non-contract clients brick their m
