Google doesn't sell your data. They sell adds to companies that they show to you. The companies never see your data, and it's effectively Google's most valuable resource. They have far more reason to keep it safe than Apple.

You can run fully transparent updates in Linux using tools from Canonical, Oracle, etc. I have absolutely no idea how people put up with how badly Windows does updates, and really, XBox is not far behind.

There are several Android clients, including Dandelion, found in the F-Droid repository. I think there's one in the Google Play store as well. No iOS clients, but the mobile site works quite nicely.
