How much liability can you claim against AWS if there's an issue with their RDS backups?

I find the groupthink on reddit to be impossible to deal with. Many subreddits have a particular dogma then stick to and if you variate at all you get downvoted into oblivion no matter how obviously correct you are.

Almost all decent datacentres and compute providers have these features, and it's far from unusual to have downtime in an EC2 reigion to the point where the standard advice is to spread across multiple reigions to avoid being caught ou

Exactly this, limit your apache processes to match the ram you have available so the machine returns 4xx or 5xx to excess requests but otherwise remains responsive and normal. Problem solved. The options are right there in the conf. Start w

I was thinking that, but if I was being smart about it I’d loop the traffic back through localhost and out of an innocent ssl connection.

I'm amazed at how many of the respondents on the Amazon forum are taking Amazon's side. That's nuts.

Back in approx 2008-2009 there was an effort to drive away a new more reddit-y crowd by flooding the front page with Erlang articles, it seemed to work for a while :)

Here in the UK you get stations ending in any decimal. Other countries have different schemes. It’s a thing when you import a car from Japan for example, the FM bands are different so you have to swap the radio or buy a little band expander

I downvoted because I found your claim that London does not have access to fresh food to be unlikely and unsubstantiated

The issue with doing this is that a large group of people will want to catch the virus so they can get out of the house again.

I think the word you're looking for is competitor rather than successor, since Hamachi is still in business with that product offering.

Is it possible to outsource poorly and loose money on a project? Yes of course, especially if you're making decisions based on cargo cult dogma or company politics.

Us "Rich People" have agency to push entropy aside, using energy as a resource, in a way that people in undeveloped areas do not.

If the LED bulb is properly rotated and installed in a projector housing then there is no extra glare and you get a good beam. It’s when you get super bright bulbs put into reflector type headlights you get a problem.

Yes I would think moulding would be the way. One of my clients is a plastics company and I saw a presentation on it a little while back. The new plastic versions of things can be non-disposable but still much cheaper and lighter than metal

Why not try a ready rolled file recovery utility first? Why grind out this reinventing of the wheel?

Yes the issue is the stability of the plastic at the temperature and pressures that sterilisation needs. I know that plastics have been developed for exactly this purpose but I don’t think they’re very widespread yet.

I believe the current UK Gov’s huge majority and long remaining term allow them to make decisions that many other countries would not be able to make at this time. I think they’re right, not that this makes things any easier, both my parent

It's my understanding that the UK's reserved response so far is because a 'shut down' is not sustainable for a long time, and we feel that it's not the right time to start yet.

I agree in principle but in practice and where you’re ‘selling’ something, why rub people’s noses in it if you don’t have to.
