Something similar to reset PC would be snapshots and immutable systems. Touch is notorious for there are very few touch sensors that actually have drivers for linux and vendors keep using unsupported ones. Hybrid sleep... is actually a big

Oh? But the site is processing IP address when the web server logs your visit. Maybe I missed a part of GDPR somewhere, guess I gotta re-read it.

I guess you have a point there. I am trying to imagine a scenario where you just track the actual conversions (sales) and the only datapoint is where your customer originated from, something akin to podcasts/youtube giving affiliate li

Do you see how the discourse has been shifted here? Some of us have nothing against ads per-se. We care about tracking. How does tracking me and invading my privacy make ads perform better? In my case it does not. As the tracked ads are usu

Biggest issue with this is the modern web ads don't even work. You get ads for fridge AFTER you bought one since they now know you browsed them. What works is content based advertising - so advertise a power drill on a woodworking hobb

Another backhanded way to forbid opensource solutions? Because now they will argue we need secure booted tamper-proof windows/mac os to make sure the proof is legit.

You can have first party trackers. That is not so hard. Every site onto itself is a first party tracker, but if your developers can't do it there are opensource solutions available to host.

you CAN use analytics! Just need to use first party analytics... it is not so hard to set up, there are many opensource self-hosted options. I hate how everyone and their mother ships all my data to google and others just because they can.

By not tracking and setting any third party cookies. Just using strictly functional cookies is fine, just put a disclaimer somewhere in the footer and explain as those are already allowed and cannot be disabled anyway.

The main selling point of ZFS is it being monolithic. Because of that it can optimize many things that are impossible in a layered approach.

I skimmed the article, but why is everyone always going for distributed cache? What is wrong with in-memory cache? Lowest latency, fast, easy to implement. Yeah ok, you have 30 million entries? Sure. You need to sync something over multiple

I have a tuxedo 14" i7-12700H with 3050. And it is terrible. Specs are nice, price was hefty, but in the end it does not deliver. Battery is horrible, charging is disruptive, power budget is not enough. All stems from the nvidia card t

Since when are companies required to run servers for multiplayer? There is always other ways to play multiplayer. At least there used to be but not any more. It is just a thinly veiled excuse to be able to shut it off.

Fully agree with what you are saying. I do have some beef with the prices of these electronic gadgets in the car. 300€ price for a new sensor or something similar? Sensor costs are usually a single digit or below. Somehow vendors found a wa

In my opinion the biggest problem is people who design roads/infrastructure don't bike. When they bike they will know what to do and how to pay attention. So right now there is this huge push in EU to make more bike infrastructure

I'd say mobile phones are worse, many more produced so even considering phone size. And harder to take apart even though laptops are getting worse. But this is all anecdotal, don't have any hard info.

Lower voltage would be OK, but then all of the cables and plugs would need to be redesigned. And there would still need to be for voltage switching unless we start adding a protocol and have PSU switch voltage dynamically... which is also n

Well I am aware there are ring 0 debuggers out there. Also running in a VM could help. Question is is there anything useful around you could just grab (for linux)? It should be possible at last.
