I think it's pretty clear that it's the reporter who is at fault. Your only defense is that it might be a mistake on their part - but that still puts them at fault. Possibly legally too? IANAL

Why shouldn't we? Security on the browser level is actually stricter than that at the OS level most of the time. Any app you download from any random place and run can access your webcam - but a webapp has to request it. I don't

This is a bit misleading. The squares, which you would think are backgrounds, are not. They are content inside the items being stretched/squished, but the content does not appear to do. so you have your container, your item container

You shouldn't consider Jet.com not collecting sales tax as a "good thing" since you are technically required to pay it by law (in most places, normally, afaik, IANAL) So you technically do still need to pay that 8.25% differe

Reading the NPM blog today - that's not really a problem in NPM. Reclaiming a module name requires a breaking version for any new code, so it shouldn't be an issue there.

There are many cloud IDEs. The Chrome Inspector is slowly turning into an IDE. Google has their own IDE project based on HTML/JS. I'm sure with some tweaks you could probably run Atom, too

Do it like, Patreon. You're "making games" and people fund you basically spending time to dev. Probably much more sustainable than say Indiegogo or Kickstarter.
