The most traffic a domain controlled by me ever received from HN was about 3000 uniques: 2000 the first day, 1000 the next.

And it is already back down again because of all the traffic. The archived version is still up at: http://www.w3.org/History/19921103-hypertext/hypertext/WWW/T...

To show an icon on hover over a link on the browser side it would require browsers to make an HTTP HEAD request for each link to see if it has the "Content-Disposition: Attachment" header. That would add a lot of overhead to the page load,

Oh I did not see it the first time around. At any rate I'm glad it is getting more exposure this time.

I'm actually not the developer. I just happened across it, enjoyed it a lot, and was surprised to find that it wasn't posted on HN yet.

You should also check for the existence of a package.json file at the root, which is the Node.js style. These files can contain licensing information for Node modules and projects, and personally I think this is a better pattern than making

Personally I don't believe in natural aptitude. Most of what others tend to see as natural aptitude is in fact just attitude. If someone really enjoys something they put in the hours of practice and the effort to be awesome in that field, a

I completely agree that the app store environment would be better without paid promotion from companies like AppGratis. However, I would also agree with the CEO of AppGratis in his post when he said that the app discovery process through th

I would agree. I don't use social media to see information about brands. I want to see my friend's activity, not advertisements. That's why I deleted my Facebook account and just use Path and Instagram, which so far don't have a big focus o

Yeah the biggest I've seen so far was $94,000.00 It doesn't specify whether that was a sell or a buy though. Either way someone made or lost a lot of money.

This site seems to have a fairly decent up to date measurement in realtime. It lacks the graphing ability to see the dramatic drop off trend though: http://realtimebitcoin.info/

I like this prettier and easier to read interface: http://realtimebitcoin.info/ I've been watching it drop from $200 to $157 over the last hour or so.

Interesting. The times I've experimented with serious bows at Renaissance Festivals gave me a healthy respect for their power. I would be too afraid to shoot one in my backyard for fear that if I missed the target I could shoot through my f

As much as archery appeals to the Renaissance Festival attending, fantasy game playing, Lord of the Rings fan boy nerd within me it probably isn't the most effective thing to do to get rid of back pain, not to mention that archery isn't a v

Exactly. As offensive, shallow, and demeaning as Lulu might be it really isn't anything new. Trashy people of both sexes have used Facebook for gossipy purposes such as this for years. By now we should all have learned how to prune our rela

AWS, Heroku, and many other PaaS providers have had their own share of downtime occasionally. I see nothing so damning about this particular instance of PaaS going down that warrants complete abandonment of the platform.

I agree it would be nice if this was open sourced, but I think the biggest barrier most cities would face stopping them from implementing a similar system would be the colossal hardware costs, not the software.

This sounds like an interesting idea but needs a fallback for mobile devices. It didn't work mobile Safari. If it had though the person at the other end of my extremely slow 3G would have been very disappointed.

Very nice! I'm trying it out right now and it feels very speedy, and actually much more responsive than the web app. Of course this is probably because the iPhone app has far fewer features to bloat it.
