For what it is worth I've been an HN member nearly four years and I've never seen this before. I enjoyed it and up voted. I don't think reposts are necessarily a bad thing because there is always going to be new members who have not seen th

I'm really excited about the price reduction and the reserved throughput possibilities. Over the past six months I slowly but surely migrated most of the core data storage for the startup I work for to DynamoDB and I have been very satisfie

For navigation, Dragon uses positional information that it receives from the ISS, along with GPS data it calculates itself. As it approaches the station, it uses imagery of the ISS and the relative size of the station to compute the distan

I think the title is quite overoptimistic. 3D printing is starting to take off because the cost of 3D printing is going down, and making it feasible. 4D printing is going to be far too expensive for practical application for a long time, an

Exactly. I did the very same thing, made a small app that showed off my coding skills. It only made about $1000 through Amazon Affiliate sales over the course of a year, but it got some press coverage and got me numerous job offers, one of

Very nice! I beat the ten demo levels too quickly, and found myself wanting more. Two things: * An iPad version is needed. The graphics seem to be high res enough to make an iPad version feasible, and if this is on the iPad I'd buy it for s

Yeah I'm afraid this may just go the way of several other petitions regarding judicial cases, in which the response was basically "here is why we aren't going to respond". In this case I feel some sort of real response is deserved even if I

The HEPA filter would prevent germs from being sucked in and blown onto your hands. I guess there might be issues with germs in the sink becoming aerosolized, but if the sink basin was designed properly it could become a sort of funnel so t

This is one of those practical inventions that I could see being in everyone's home (and bathroom) in twenty years, with future generations asking: "Did people really use unhygienic towels to dry their hands after washing, grandpa?"

The most telling thing for me when I was reading this post is that I was just looking at the words and assumed the author was a woman, because they were writing about sexism and poor treatment of women in the tech industry. It wasn't until

If Android gains traction on x86-based tablets and other mobile devices, CodeWeavers has a lot of commercial opportunities for pushing the running of Windows software on Android. I honestly don't see how there would be that much of a mark
