One thing I've learned leading a backend team is that a strong devops culture is necessary at any company that values its security. Engineers (especially non senior ones) will often adopt new technologies without doing all the research

Fingerprints should not be considered to be a password. They are a username. You can't rotate your fingerprints like you can rotate a password, and what is more you leave your fingerprints on everything you touch.

Very nice. This technique of code organization will bring some of the benefits of microservices even though the code is actually all running in one monolithic process. And as a bonus its not hard to imagine adding RPC capabilities to this l

More than that. A salt for each "session". Each JWT contains two pieces of info: user ID, and salt. This stops the JWT from being a deterministic token that is always the same each time a token is generated for a specific user. It

You ALWAYS will sign your tokens with a well known secret, you could eventually even add some salt from a database to it. Exactly. Each JWT I generate has a salt inside which I store in the DB, and ideally the salt has accompanying

Yeah it is appealing on some levels, and it would be interesting to work there for six months to a year. I wouldn't want to work there for very long though. It would be a nice place to work your ass off for a while with other talented

Absolutely. If you are truly confident in your position, and know it is correct then a dissenting voice shouldn't bother you. Instead you should just feel sorry for them. It's the people who can't handle that a dissenting voi

I use suggested responses on Inbox all the time. People tend to send lots of email that only needs a one line response, and the suggested responses of "Thanks for confirming", "That time works for me", etc. are perfect.
