AnySoftKeyboard works on Android 12 and 13 and has arrow keys available in one of the default layouts. I’m actually using my own customized layout since it was pretty easy to make one a few years ago. If you want a layout that is customized

Yeah. I’m using Fedora 38 / GNOME 44, with two 1440p 170 Hz monitors and one 4K 120 Hz TV. For me it works out of the box, and I have not made any configurations myself to make it work.

As a software-only guy, this article brings me great encouragement for doing a hardware project in the future! :) Although, to be honest, my bigger problem is probably just simply not having a use case which I could use a self-built hardwar

It is for me, who – sometimes needs to make a few quick edits right from the terminal (but prefers a proper GUI text editor like VS Code for longer sessions) – is accustomed to the keyboard shortcut conventions of desktop applications on Li

I’m not referring to some definite standard, but to the conventions that have existed in most desktop apps, at least on Windows and Linux, ever since I first used a computer. Wikipedia has a good list of them.[1] The list also shows Emacs a

Been using this for years, really great for making quick edits in the terminal. Mouse support and standard editing shortcuts as the default (unlike many other terminal text editors) are the best features in my opinion.

I have the same problem, but I also have a suggestion: write down the stuff just for yourself. Like personal notes. Don’t think about publishing it anywhere. For me, this works really well for learning purposes. Although I would also like t

I’m a beginner pianist, and I’ve been writing down stuff in ABC notation[1] using Obsidian[2] and a plugin[3] for instant previews. I was already using Obsidian for all of my plain-text Markdown notes, so it was the obvious choice for me. O

I am serious! I really do think GNOME looks the best by default of the DEs I have used and seen. > inconsistent styling, sizes, spacing I’m going to be honest, I have not noticed these things at all. But I am not a UI designer, and m

I believe the apps are designed this way so that they’re easily adaptable to GNOME shell on mobile[1]. I think the UI elements could be a tad smaller on desktops, but I’m still happy with how they look. Easily the best UI design out of any

Oh, and I forgot: on Android, app patching is also a possibility. For example, the ReVanced project offers patches for the official Reddit app: https://revanced.app/patches?pkg=com.reddit.frontpage&s=redd...

If you are tired of patching the APKs yourself, you can just use pre-built APKs for less work: https://github.com/revanced-apks/build-apps/releases

So, basically any kind of customization to the Reddit experience is now limited to browser extensions and userscripts that scrape and modify the website itself. On Android, this means using Firefox. On iOS, I don’t think there’s much choice

I like the new logo, but hadn’t thought about the fire theme. Maybe they should’ve went for a more thunder-y, angular shape for the bird’s tail to better reflect the name?

I don’t think there’s really any “maintaining” to be done when I sign in to a new service that I won’t be using often. Complete the sign-in page → Bitwarden asks me if I want to save the credentials → click yes. That’s it. I can auto-fill t
