Exactly. Labor market is linked to many other things. Wages are the most important factor, but not the only factor.

It's just bluster. No way Facebook/Instagram is writing off a quarter of the world's smartphone users (who also probably on average have a higher net worth than the remaining 75%).

Or war. Some of the oldest cities in the world are in the Levant - Aleppo and Damascus in Syria. Or Jericho in Palestine. The trouble is that those cities also have had gone through significant conflict, so ruins tend to not survive.

Except for China, the US has done very well actually economically in COVID. It probably is the second best performing economy from March 2020 (when COVID started) to March 2021. Look at India for example - it's economy is in tatters an

India's high TFR mostly comes from the so-called BIMARU states - Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh [1]. In fact, almost all of Indian states are below a TFR of 2 now. Consumption is another thing now. Power demand is

The ethics coursework at my ABET accredited alma mater, which was a 1 credit joke BTW, mostly covered plagiarism. Human ethics are basically not covered at all. There is a huge ideological blindspot inside engineering departments - if my w

This is also the height of anti-immigrant fervor in the United States. This is 9 years after the Johnson-Reed Act (Immigration Act of 1924) [1], which basically tried to ban all immigration from Asia. There is a great Hasan Minhaj episode t

Interesting point, but then as per the methods inflation has been ~10% since 2001, except for the a dip because of the great recession. The inflation, even by this measure, has then been immune to fiscal stimulus.

I have a 25,000+ loc scientific codebase in Python, with lot of use in my specialized domain. I gave up on numba, because it's speedups vanish when transitioning to real problems. And secondly, it's bugs are not that intuitive.

Try dask Distribute your data and run everything as dask.delayed and then compute only at the end. Also check out legate.numpy from Nvidia which promises to be a drop in numpy replacement that will use all your CPU cores without any tweaks
