Budgets are definitely tight and schedules are even tighter in hollywood movie post production. There entire movie budget might look like a big figure, but it's divided among a lot of people.

I've said it before I will say it again. Apple should spend less money worrying about and suing it's competitors and spend more time and money on improving their mediocre products. Do you honestly think that Apple are incapable of develop

Brit here. I've been watching the events unfolding over the last week with increasing incredulity. I have to say the reaction to this t-shirt is taking things to another level. My only theory is that this is the puritanical aspect of the US

I took trhtrsh's comment as sarcasm. If not then I think people have officially lost their minds and we may need to reboot the internet.

I agree that she doesn't deserve some of the vitriol her way. Particularly the misogynistic stuff which is particularly stupid considering the context. However it's also true that she was the one who chose the nuclear option, and has to liv

I hope that there will be a positive flip side to these incidents. The swathes of negative publicity and often humiliating climb downs that follow, will make the DMCA a toxic legal tool for many companies. At least those that are concerned

I think it's more of a grey area than that. Certainly I can imagine a situation where the overlap was insignificant and this was an overreach by the employer, but there is currently no evidence to suggest that.

Ok, that's possibly unfortunate wording but it could have referred to the attendees rather than the presenters. At the time the complaint was that they hadn't applied quotas to the presenters which is not the same thing as discrimination.

As a non-American who occasionally attends conferences in the States, this entire incident is rather frightening. I really could not imagine a similar reaction in Europe. It reminds me of the situation last year where a British ruby confere

Exactly. When I was 20 I'd happily spend my weekend building PCs or compiling Linux kernels. In general, my time/money ratio was skewed heavily towards time. Now I'm in my 30s and have a demanding career it's very much the other way. Spare

So you're claiming that the company who initially pushed web apps as the iPhone API but caved under pressure from developers, the same company who developed webkit. You're claiming this company is trying to destroy the web? Do you not think

It's worse than that. On iOS Google have just shut down exchange support (for new users), which was how I was syncing calendars up until now. If they pull caldav support as well, there will be no syncing mechanism available to iOS users, un

Whether its wrong depends on the context and the motivations. To put it another way, the ends justifies the means. And I think you'll find plenty who would disagree with that statement.
