Just to add a bit of color, over the weekend I upgraded an old Acer netbook to Windows 8.1. The specs weren't great: 1.6GHz first gen Atom/945 PCH, 1GB Ram 250GB hard drive. Overall Windows 8.1 is faster and more usable, with the

Why is there a contradiction? Sounds more like a formula for a lot of small to medium sized businesses being started. If there were no Big-COs that provide thousands of jobs, people wouldn't roll over and decide not to work. On the con

Couple issues: 1 When viewing a company website on my 5c, there was no UI element or gesture I could conjure to go back to the job listing. 2 I signed up via LinkedIn. After quitting the pp to get out of the webview issue mentioned above, a

I have Mono projects in production. Xamarin Studio is pretty nice these days. I don't have a lot of performance sensitive .Net code so I don't notice any real difference between Microsoft's and Xamarin's implementations.

Given the development timeframe for NeXTSTEP, I don't think that a managed language would have been a likely choice. Remember, this is when your average barn burner workstation came with a 33MHz 386 Class CPU and 4-8MB of memory. The N

I thought the GC point was kind of interesting seeing as Objective C does/did have Garbage Collection (if you're an OS X developer). It's been deprecated and ARC is the replacement. There's been a bit of discussion about

On newer versions of OS X, invoking gcc will prompt you to install the command line tools. This means you don't need all of XCode. The best (visual) example I could find is on this page: http://railsapps.github.io/xcode
