I know you're joking, but I agree -- to a point. First, if you write FORTH-in-Java code, you're gonna do a horrible job unless you get to reinvent Factor, at which point you should just use Factor. Also, you get to use Factor, which is awes

inputrc is not to be sourced; it's read by readline when the shell starts. You need to restart your shell.

I feel the need to point out that on an unbiased search engine (DDG), SO was the first hit but not any of the subsequent hits. However, all of the hits were various developer-oriented forums. I would suggest that, if we must have develope

I wish to pick one nit: This is not the first chipset to be fully documented and have this sort of massively-parallel structure. GreenArrays is producing hardware right now if you want to go play: http://www.greenarraychips.com/

On my anti-Flattr checklist, you forgot to complain about how Flattr uses EUR to count money instead of USD.

Please don't say that "all" of us endorse writing C. Many of us gave up on writing C a long time ago and want to see pure-Python solutions to things.

I can't agree with that. In a similar vein, my roommate and a couple other close friends are red-green colorblind, a common genetic deficiency which commonly afflicts men. The pain and suffering they experience in their day-to-day lives, wh

As a musician who, like his ancestors, will slowly but surely go deaf during his lifetime (and has noticed the process starting already), I can respect deaf people but not the desire to propagate deafness. Do you understand?

Well, there are two parts here: First, why does Python have a method instead of an attribute, and second, why is it external instead of internal to the object? To answer the first question, Python allows you to ask about the size of any fin

You really feel that JS "couldn't be further away from the machine?" What about languages that don't have a specified execution model? Haskell and other MLs, for example.

I prefer to look at it from a sociological standpoint. Sociological research shows that compensating content production is based on merit , not markets, in younger people. You're not going to convince a "20-something" to pay for something

Numba can't deal with PyPy at the moment, I think. If you're doing lots of Numpy, then see whether PyPy's numpy support works for you, as it will be fastest. If not, then CPython and Numba might be what you want. Also, you might not need Nu

These open resolvers are largely run by ISPs and resolve addresses for their customers. Taking them down would cripple the Internet access of their peers. They do not need to be taken down; they need to be reconfigured. An open DNS resolver

Uh, recursion doesn't have to be the basis of computation. It certainly can be, but it's not how you have to think of stuff. Iterative algorithms are perfectly cromulent.

That's strange; all of the brogrammers that I know are pretty reasonable people. Sure, they dress strangely, tend to keep their hair in novel styles, have odd preferences for beverages, have quirky catchphrases that don't really make sense,
