I love listening to music when doing the easy parts of an application, like crud code, light refactoring, etc. If I have to really think about something, I find myself having to turn down the music, as it becomes distracting. Agree on the d

Problem is the ribbon is so full of buttons, that people will spend just as much time looking in the ribbons, as they did in the menus.

I just read one of your replies to edw519's post, but I think you deleted it. I can't find it anymore at least. In any case, it stated you were not at all interested in programming. I think you answered your own problem with that post. I ha

What is this about? I didn't understand anything what so ever. Only some PR firm calling some blogger a bitch by accident in an e-mail. The reason though was lost to me. Something about a picture of a guy collating papers?

The issue is mainly with the large companies, who primarily seem to be using IE. Due to their size, they can't auto-upgrade without incurring massive costs. For the average consumer, it's not really a problem.

Down-voted for suggesting IE support I suppose. The point was that 50% of end-users won't be able to use this site. I'd have said the same if the site didn't work in Firefox. You do not make a site that doesn't support the dominant browser,

Yeah, that's the point. Freelancing rates and salaries take a dive during low demand. An auction is focused on getting a high price for something which is in high demand. If there is not a high demand, you wouldn't have a need for an auctio

Could be an interesting concept. In the current climate where good developers and designers are highly sought after, it might work. However, it would probably also be very sensitive to market changes in demand for developers / designers.

That depends what you are jiggling around :-) If you can't immediately make basic loops work, then yes, you shouldn't be anywhere near production code yet. But if it's starting to use some advanced OO concept, a new protocol or similar, exp

Can't really recognize these problems. I've no problem with working offline for example. You get the latest version from the repository, do your stuff and check-in when your done. Conflicts are pretty easy too. I don't know this 3 pane "sta

It might very well be tech contractors. For people with specialized skills (not your typical .NET, PHP, RoR guy) who contract on stuff like SAP or similar, it is definitely not unheard of, to have a rate of £2K for a 8 hour working day. Esp
