Yeah, probably alot of people of all kinds of backgrounds would find this kind of "temp" work, to be very appealing. It's a total win-win both for the runners who do tasks, and the end-customers, who get tasks done.

This concept is beyond brilliant. What an unbelievable stress reliever, to be able to have all sorts of tasks done for you, at a time that's convenient. If it turns out to be scalable / reproducable, it could be a real disruptor to parts of

LAMP is not the "cloud". It's a stack of an operative system (Linux), web server (Apache), database engine (MySQL) and scripting language (PHP). It's used for hosting web applications. The vague "cloud" term, ultimately boils down to an int

It means the same. You can even throw in "freelance" there as well. All terms just means an external person doing work for a company in some form. Typically you'd associate the "freelancer" with the scruffy php dev who does localpetshop.com

Call a consultant recruitment agency, they'll be able to guide you. The bad news is you DO need to slug it out for years, to gain experience. Not many companies will pay you 100+ USD an hour, if you are fresh out of college. I talked with a

It's hard to know the exact drop in traffic. It's probably more than Nick Denton's claimed 7% but probably also less than the ~85% drop this article claims. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle. In any case, even 7% is a pretty mas

There is a psychological term for that state of mind, which I'm sure most of the readers here know already. It's been investigated thoroughly by the psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi (try saying that 3 times fast). It's called Flow ( htt

It's more like a mental babystep. If you are not able to compile Hello world in a given toolchain, that says more about your competence with that particular toolchain, than it does about the toolchain itself.

So you were at a competency level where you couldn't get Hello world to work, switched to another language and based on that, conclude that your choice of language plus editor is miles ahead of anything MS could offer?
