Most modern languages (aka post-C) already have namespaces, why would anyone need to use classes as namespaces? You can just have functions that operate on set of data, keep it tight and clean, no need for classes if you don't need oop

I agree, people interested in technology buy technology-related magazines. People interested in fashion (don't assume just women do that, it's a bit sexist) buy fashion-related magazines.

I'm not drawing any conclusion, I just treat women, poc and LGBT people as, you know, PEOPLE. There's nothing that stops anybody from contributing repos to github. Certainly it's not their gender or their race or whatever oth

I honestly don't understand the point of analyzing the gender/race/whatever. I agree entirely with the fact that people should not hire solely on the basis of a github account, but this has really nothing to do with gender or

All these so-called "puzzles" (except maybe the text adventures and the water temple) are really simple... I don't see the point of this article, really. If I were to say which one was probably the most complex puzzle I ever

I'm sad, since Xamarin, the development for Monodevelop and the focus on Linux systems has become abysmal and terrible. This is just a very very sad sellout tactic. Way to kill off the Linux ecosystem.

Best way to check how much ram is actually free is to use a higher level tool like a task manager (from various DEs) or a command line tool like htop, they report the actual memory usage of processes

Don't get me wrong, I use Firefox and I love it, it's my main browser. It was just a simple joke with no malicious intents. That said and done, I've had firefox run for several days on my computer and reach up to 3-4GB of mem

Yeah no sorry, I'm not going to post my (or a friend's) mobile phone number on the Internet, thanks. Why not use emails instead? Phone numbers on the net make me feel weird, I don't like it.

At first I thought this thing hooked into your blood flow to actively cool down your blood, like watercooling does for computers, it would've been a much cooler idea (no pun intended) EDIT: fixed autocomplete phone typo

I had been trying to get my parents to move to Linux for a long time and now, after a few months of struggles, it seems they are actually liking it (xubuntu). It all started years ago when my dad got a virus on the windows laptop, then I to

Yes, you are entirely correct, my point about actors vs agents was only taking in consideration a shared memory situation (only one local multicore processor), in case of a distributed system with multiple nodes located on different memory

The substantial difference is that actors act on messages while agents are only pieces of data with an assigned thread (in a pool, doesn't matter) that is scheduled to retrieve the functions passed via send and send-off. There is an am

I'm going to be "that" guy and ask... why actors? Why not agents? The concept of agents (as defined by Rich Hickey in a lot of his Clojure talks) is all about a globally shared, immutable and persistent state on which you can

I got my very first smartphone last month, I've never been much of a phone person. This is to say that even before I owned one, I've always had ways to entertain and immerse myself in my own world. Especially during large commute

Sure, because hosting the whole repo on github is going to be a smart move. Call me when there are dependencies issues, new versions that break the whole systems and security issues with unsigned packages. No, just no.
