> The US has strong free speech protection, stronger than European free speech protection. For this to be said in the current circumstances shows either a political viewpoint or a lack of knowledge.

Wondering if you're thinking of some TOS episodes such as "Taste of Armageddon" or "The Ultimate Computer" (M5)?

Were I to have the ability, I would absolutely never let that person anywhere near people's money again. Check this person's history on this very site. https://hn.algolia.com/?dateRange=all&page=0&prefix=t

Just as an aside, I'm surprised that Instagram has done nothing to facilitate the migration it wants. I've been hitting the same old rate limits while trying to "migrate" by subscribing to creators who have IG accounts

I would heavily endorse raindrop.io as a paid user. I was looking for an alternative to Pinboard; after witnessing the founder's behavior/attitude on HN, I didn't want to funnel any more money to them.

Interesting: not Donovan, but Indy. And my first reaction was "mehhh" but then I told my brain to quit being a smartass, would my 15-year-old self have been impressed? Damn straight they would've.

'Their' is practical not ideological - Sam could be Samuel or Samantha, and I didn't know which. Also, bring up the use of 'their' for unknown gender with Shakespeare and Austen, who both did it. The only one being

If you enjoyed that, the short stories are quite good. qntm = Sam Hughes, and some of their work is published under that name.

Thank you. This gives me a really strong understanding/insight into why it's appreciated. I really appreciate you taking the time to explain/write that out.

I don't know if I agree with the premise of the article. At the very least, you can make sure 50,000+ people have food daily. That scales. [1] [1] - https://youtu.be/qdoJroKUwu0

At the time (and it was a few years ago), I found BBEdit to be rather amazing - or at least equally a product raised with care in its ecosystem over decades of use.

Very much agreed. There's certain turns of phrase that human beings rarely use but AIs immediately grasp for. Then again, this reminds me of the saying I've heard, that AIs now are at the dumbest point they will be in our lives.

Pinboard's creator has some history ... right here on this website. Later I will see if I have the links still. They (in my opinion) did not behave honorably with people's subscriptions.

No disrespect intended by this, but I'm a little confused. What makes a direct contradiction of what Google said a reliable statement? Is it just pessimism bias?

I've found a solution of sorts to this all. At least one that works for me, I'll add that caveat. It basically rests in the concept - it doesn't have to be true, it can simply be the mental model by which you operate - that

I appreciate the answers thus far. Still, it feels as if these errors are not useful for situations where there's virtually no existing accessible support for the end user for the product, i.e., Google, Facebook. In these cases, the
