I guess not professional appearance but professional standards. Ex.I might expect a professional python programmer to follow PEP8 code style. I think rather than coding like boy or coding like girl, we should be aspiring to be professional

Is it fair to say putting your heart into something makes you an amateur at something ? I dunno, this feels off. Did I misunderstand the analogy ?

Why can't we just code like professionals ? Sidenote: Disclaimer: I was heavily influenced by my Biology professors. I don't think society evolved in vacuum separate from genetic evolution. So while I don't appreciate insulti

This was very surprising to me. I'm glad you linked it. I have definitely changed my mind about ted. The fact they forced Eddie to have a roommate is weird, and creepy. It seems like humans just can't live with out religion.

I agree, it's not professional. Those don't belong in the workplace, and I admire the way the guest poster went about convincing her coworkers. Sorry I wasn't clear, when I was referring to she, I meant the creator of the web

I wonder if she understands the role of idealized forms in art, or idealized forms fit into everything. We see them not only in comic books, but also on the covers of romance novels. We also see them in roman statues for both genders. Edit:

I'm a little paranoid about my code. I want to like github's private repos, but I don't want my code to be stolen by github's internal employees. I've heard that their employees do shady things on occasion (2nd hand

In era of flux and untested laws, no one wants to be a scapegoat or a trial run. I really feel for Aaron Swartz, and I think I might have easily done the same thing as him. I dunno how or what, but we need dramatic changes in the law about

Yea, It can get you fired. I've seen it happen. This article is too idealistic, and doesn't take into account businesses have business politics or peoples ego's.

True, but I've noticed programming like some of the other STEM fields are a lot harder to fake skills than some other fields. I'm not saying its impossible to fake development skills, just saying its harder than some other fields.
