YouTube TV was equal parts awesome and horrifying for the Olympics. It had plenty of great content, including a solid amount of 4k It also had the worst search UX I have ever experienced. Most importantly, recording an event did not guaran

It is fairly difficult to be perfectly objective about everything we discuss. We all bring our own bias and experiences to just about everything we do and say. In Dustin’s case, he is being open about his background and perspective. Isn’t

True but this misses the core point about agency. Some of us would like too think we know something more and ‘gamble’ on that knowledge. Having 5% to personally assign can scratch that itch without resulting in an overexposed or vulnerable

This is great advice. You follow the best rule of thumb for individuals, ETF w/ dca and set it and forget it, but allow a bit of fun to scratch the itch. I do something similar but honestly allow too much to go towards the latter. I

We looked at both and chose Render based on various posts here along with our real world testing and bake off parameters. We use the Pro Ultra config and handle ~20rps on a Node / Express stack w/ 36 workers using clustering. Ou

Good points. I didn’t actually specify it out, but my third backup is an offline SSD that I plug in every once in a while and store at my office. I only mentioned the RAID for local redundancy reasons. You are right about the data being cor

Thanks for the link, that was a great read! What a story. Minor nit pick, the pilot did not in fact eject. He was literally thrown out of the disintegrating aircraft, ripping his shoulder and waist harnesses in the process. Insane stuff, e

This is a great post and I am glad it is getting high visibility. Everyone involved in a startup should understand this and consider it as part of their 'do I join' calculation. Additionally, founders shouldn't try to hide

I have never quite understood this value proposition (maybe I am not the target audience?) The point of PaaS is to avoid DevOps... making a PasS with an eject just feels orthogonal to the value prop of the main business. Ejecting seems li

We don't give equity. The company is bootstrapped and the founders ran it completely until cash flow positive. It is now a fantastic mission driven small business, not a startup, focused on post graduate certification exam prep.
