We did a bake off 18 months ago and identified ~5 similar platforms at the time. Fly.io and Render were 2 of them. We chose Render and have been happy with things just chugging along as they were on Heroku. Their runtime seems to take up q

I am curious if any businesses operating with the ‘pay Apple their cut’ on outside sales actually do? Does Apple have the manpower to chase every developer for that fee? Do they really expect to collect it or is it more of a threat? Any HN

I absolutely love the “Becker Bottle”. It gives you the ability to truly visualize this concept. Super fun to play with and a great learning aid for chemistry classes. https://www.flinnsci.com/becker-bottle-one-in-a-million&

That is the beauty of the scam… plausibility, isolation and sunk cost. They had my wife on the phone for 90 minutes! It was so exhausting and nerve wracking that by the time the crypto request comes, you are too drained to think straight.

Shame and pride are such strong motivators. My wife was taken by a very elaborate and well-crafted scam in November. In retrospect, it all sounds ridiculous... but in the moment, with kids in tow, it was very convincing. It was so traumat

Frankly I am shocked I got 27 up votes. To your point I expected a net negative score for the comment because - it was a joke (not typically acceptable on HN) - it is a dated reference I decided it was worth it…

This is on point. I purposely didn’t buy a Tesla because I wanted to drive a car, not a toy. Are touch interfaces all bad? No, but in situations where heavy focus is required and the inputs are dynamically changing, they are a disaster.
