I'm just surprised some MBA hasn't reinvented company scrip yet. Maybe they'll try it internationally first, Walmart was using scrip in Mexico until 2008.

Of course, but the civil rights movement was a great victory and segregation was made illegal, at least at the surface level. I just don't think it's progress to go from "it's good to burn down the forest to extract a d

Shocking that this needs to be pointed out, but because the company is supposed to _actually do something_. Ideally, that thing is good, and there are benefits to being able to exert some influence on how decisions about that thing are made

One of the most insidious ideas of our time. Interestingly, it seems directly at odds with the new dogma/mandate of BlackRock-style DEI, which is insidious in it's own way. I wish the history of corporatocracy was taught more in s

Bellingcat is a way for UK/US spies to launder intelligence, a bootleg Wikileaks that won't challenge domestic power structures. I wouldn't point to them if I wanted my point to be taken seriously.

The obfuscation is a little too obvious. The people need something which defends their job security but still passes code review.

Or, preferably, admit that testing wasn't a good idea to begin with and focus on optimizing children for learning, not test-taking.

Playing the "training game" is very interesting and kind of addictive. The "reply as robot" task in particular is really enlightening. If you try to give it any sense of personality or humanity, your comments will be dow

"BypassPaywallsClean" is a must-have extension for the modern internet. Does anybody else use multiple browsers? Maybe it's just because I'm doing web-dev right now, but I think using as many browsers as possible is nece

Why are people doing all of this SMD stuff for hobby projects? Cool project, but that looks like a maddening build. Would be a fun afternoon if it was THT.

Datadog is stupidly expensive for what it provides. Don't recommend and I hope something open kills it soon.

Dang, that's really pretty. Could do with a little interface polish, but really nice visualizations. How does 't' work? Would love to be able to feed an audio waveform into a fullscreen mode and some palette options.

I had a similar idea, but it uses a graph construction and Elixir. Definitely going to poach some ideas from LangChain though. https://github.com/Miserlou/Helix

They do act as repeaters! The mesh networking design was one of the big selling points, it was going to be a city-wide teenage mesh network! Unfortunately, one acting as a repeater would take your range from 10 feet to 20 feet.

Don't forget Tre nøtter til Askepott, an old communist Czech movie that's somehow so critical to Norwegian heritage they had to send a Norwegian team to another country to make sure it was preserved and restored.
