I'm sad to see this go, a remnant of another web which could have been. I spent a fair bit of time playing with Beaker and hacking it up for my own purposes. We actually had a discussion a few years ago where I made a suggestion about

I'm really hoping somebody comes along and puts this in a format that I can attach to my head inconspicuously.

It's wrong that poor people who aren't a threat to society are imprisoned because they can't afford bail, not that rich people aren't. Don't think that the way to get rid of the disparity of privilege is to take it

After playing with the APIs, it seems there's something annoying happening with the terminology right now. "ChatGPT" and "davinci-003" aren't equivalent, but it isn't entirely clear how. The biggest differ

This sounds extremely relevant to my issues, as floating point issues between different clients and the server was something I noticed. I would really appreciate any links you might have to share.

Phaser is the one I liked the most and I got it _nearly_ close enough to being acceptable, but the rubber banding was enough to make it Not Fun^tm. I think the issues could have arisen from using Elixir as a backend rather than JS, leading

Nice, thanks for the link. I hadn't heard the term "rubber banding" before, but that exactly describes what I end up with. I think my backend and overall strategy are good, sending events rather than state, deterministic simu

Nice! Is this yours? I've tried building a few real-time games with different implementations of these HTML5/JS game engines, but I always hit a wall when trying to add multiplayer capabilities. The main issues I've found is

If somebody is demanding you to say "property owner" rather than "landlord", that person is your enemy.

This is wild. I use Obsidian.. as a bunch of folders with text notes. The simplicity of the system is what works for me. But awesome to see somebody take the exact opposite approach.

Mostly posting because I want to draw more attention to Avi Loeb's blog. He is posting absolute bangers nearly every day, it's amazing. If you're even remotely interested in space science, it's one to put on your list of

Exactly what I'm looking for, thank you. EDIT: I am immediately struck that I need vastly more data and compute than I can afford for my experiment.

Does anybody have any good resources on the nuts and bolts of embeddings (particularly multi-modal embeddings)? I've got some experiments I'd like to run.

I'm not even sure what you're trying to prove here. Are you saying that it's good that you have to speak like a race-obsessed weirdo for a long while before it will start providing your favorite uncomfortable statistics, or t

For real.. it's not 2008 anymore. I don't think anybody is buying the "grind yourself into dust for VCs in times of economic uncertainty" bit anymore. You ever hear of a VC sleeping in an office?

Alright, man, good luck. I didn't see a single answer about how you're going to physically move and prepare 5 quadrillion tons of air or why that's not necessary, but I'll sleep tight knowing that you've cracked it.

Bro, you have not answered the question. How do you move and prepare the air? Think about the volume and weight of the gas that needs to be moved. See what adding fans and pretreatment does to your napkin science project and tell me how man

It's a carbon _cycle_. We've spent a hundreds of years adding new carbon to that cycle as fast as our technology will allow, which is now very fast. It will remain in the cycle unless we sequester it back into the ground. Plants (

I don't see where you're solving this problem. How do you move the air? How do you remove the water? How do you concentrate the CO2?

You edited your comment after I posted, but it doesn't matter, you haven't talked about the topic at hand: atmospheric CO2, a pollutant that makes up 0.04% of the air. All of your calculations assume an infinite stream of pure CO2

None of this explains how using 10% of total human energy production (at a bare minimum, using technology that doesn't exist) isn't a "BFD", or how in the world lime burning - a process that emits CO2 - is in any way a s
