I didn't get into the UC of my choice. So I appealed. This was in 2006, and the appeal process was not through an online application. You had to mail in a packet with your appeal letter, transcripts, etc. I sent one in by the postmark

That was a systemwide thing for Southern Pacific, not specific to the peninsula. It was fairly ugly but was a known low-cost transition to deal with a tightening belt when railroads were still private (and struggling)

I got a good laugh seeing them using a $100,000+ 6-axis automotive assembly-line robot to move a pizza 90 degrees from a conveyor to an oven. Overkill to say the least. This is laughably overengineered.
