Instead of just outright limiting extensions you could give users the choice. Give us an option to make it impossible for extensions to send out data for example.

You're missing the point. The claim in the headline states that fighting against poverty helps with deforestation. My argument is that this is not absolute. It helps fight against deforestation in (some) poor countries, because poor pe

The elected officials are the cause of this problem. If they stopped funding the war on drugs then it would dissipate on its own.

It's easy to lay the blame on corporations, but where do the voters come into this? They are the ones that get politicians into office. Politicians are the ones with the power to stop the war on drugs, yet they haven't. Should we

Are the majority actually writing code like this though? In the case of dynamic languages, this property seems more like an additional consequence of how the language behaves. It's not additional syntax.

Yes, but people still cut down trees. The question is how much faster forests would spread since there would be less deforestation.

I don't quite understand the headline. This seems like a rather obvious outcome. The big question is: what are the limits on it? Helping the poor in Indonesia (and Brazil) would diminish deforestation, but would it do the same if you w

Honest question: do you think this kind of stuff is going to be adopted by the majority in the next decade or two? Because I'm looking at it and adding even more language features like that seems to make it even harder to read someone

This is one of those situations where regulation of some sorts could help the business being regulated. If the government decreed that they're not allowed to pick and choose based on the content then the ad buyers couldn't do anyt

Did Flash video ever get to hardware accelerated video? Because what eventually made these videos power efficient is that we now have dedicated hardware for it. It's not perfect though. Even today one of the most common browser issues

I'm unsure whether this applies to Godot, but usually game engines come with a lot of unnecessary baggage. I think UE4 at its smallest was still something like 20 MB despite you not needing almost any of it. A 2D engine or renderer lik

This is the kind of stuff I find baffling. We killed off Flash, celebrated, and said that xyz will do the same thing as Flash did. Several years later xyz does not do what Flash did. We don't even have all the pieces to put the puzzle

I'm pretty sure regular people can tell the difference between a regular page and an AMP page. The AMP page simply doesn't work right and it's quite difficult to miss that.

And that will stop people from shaming you on social media how? All you need to harm someone is to send a Twitter mob at them. If your union becomes political enough then toy can just do that, just like Google did.
