I don't think it's a tautology to say HN's users are mostly male because the group it draws from is mostly male. There's room for competing theories like some quality unique to the website. To put my thought in bad ASCII

Someone suggested Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking , which is by Susan Cain. Your point stands, though. HN's userbase is massively male-a survey a few years ago put it at 94% [0]. This is presumab

I suspect the global illumination is running at a lower refresh rate than the rest of the scene for performance. I've seen other Godot demos that don't have this jerkiness.

I'm 100% sure I fall under "nerd" as pg uses it--if you'd asked a random student in my year to name a nerd, it would've been me--and that's why I have trouble connecting with these stories. Neither I or my Acad

Interesting essay. Not to pry, but how old are you? pg went to high school in the 80s, and as someone who attended more recently, most of his points read like artifacts of the time--something with more resemblance to a John Hughes movie tha

As long as consumers trust Amazon and don't trust the merchants, it doesn't matter. They have to use Amazon anyway. This is presented as a strategic problem for Amazon, but it isn't.

Ideally games would have native Linux versions. Practically, no one did this before Wine/Proton because the Linux market is so small and bug-prone, so the choices are Proton or no games at all.

That seems non-comparable. Google and Microsoft have a lot of value in IP and mindshare, plus various monopolies. American and Delta (for example) are 100% fungible.
