Remember when VLC was in the Vault 7 Wikileaks release? It turned out the CIA could deliver a media file which had a surveillance payload. It wasn't ever made clear if this required a special bugged VLC or if the main VLC was in fact t

Systemd is flaky and bloated. I guess for certain enterprise applications people unfamiliar with Unix might see the utility in it but there are many init replacements which are much better. Heck daemontools still competes favorably with sys

Welp, looks like if you decide to edit what people post you become a publisher. Just like it says in Section 230.

Is this going to be like the normal Apple forums where no Apple employees ever appear except to poo-poo widespread issues? That always bothered me.

Doesn't Snapchat mainly rely upon the iOS or Android platform having some software that prevents screen shots if a 'no screen shots' flag is set? I always thought this was their core defense.

I have to go ahead and disagree with you there on this point. The War On Drugs is intended to hurt violent street gangs, often foreign-based.

No thanks! Currently China is using drugs to destabilize and damage the USA. Fentanyl is a weapon.

I mean this is good, right? There are a LOT of illegal aliens involved in the drug trade. These people aren't known for their propensity to have correct ID. The only practical way to ID them is with facial recognition, DNA, and fingerp

Many people have rejected the systemd cult of bloat and scripts are easy to read, write, understand, and maintain. Most consist of generic boilerplate anyway. Nobody wants to replace a simple init system with something with 1.5 million line

This is really creepy and I have an intense dislike for the people behind it. Nobody alive today was a slave and choosing to become ass hurt at industry standard terms, which aren't even racial in nature (every race has been enslaved),

Personally I won't buy another WD or Sandisk product ever again. Companies like this don't ever really come off as being sorry for the scams they pull, so it's best to just cut them off completely. I de-Googled too because of

Going woke isn’t a great move for a company. And how many workers? Just the vocal “activists?” In the near future companies will be wary of hiring people with a history of shrill woke activism. Better a quiet Nazi than a vocal Communist.

Objective-C was a very interesting language, in some ways much better than C++ while filling the same type of role. It's a shame that so much effort is being thrown away by Apple. I recommend anybody who has an Objective-C program that

I think we are meant to divine Apple’s plan from clues. Much of the Unix side of OS X or whatever it’s called now is getting pretty old, much apparently unchanged from years ago. So my guess is this stuff is going away sooner than later. Th
