I made the opposite choice with Vim, opting to always use GVim instead of the terminal. I was never able to set up terminal colors and mouse compatibility just right, and at 4k Gnome terminal would lag a bit. Terminals use windowing systems

While I agree in this specific case, in general, the idea that privacy and safety measures trump all other factors is poorly thought out. What if, for my privacy and safety, I don't want to log into my account to view a specific piece

Even what you just pasted is wrong. And it would give a confusing error if you used it. Try "sudo apt install vim \ make" to see. It's the kinda thing an experienced engineer wouldn't have that much trouble with, but you

> making it harder for yourself Looking at just the first link, looks way more complicated than venv. And I'm a C++ developer, imagine someone who less experienced, or even who just isn't familiar with C toolchains.

There's no way you'll see anything like that. Flash was dead simple, a 12 year old could throw a simple game together and upload it. WebGPU will require a skilled graphics programmer just to write (or more likely cross compile) th

If it weren't for the brand new shading language it might have been a step forward. But instead it's further fragmentation. Vulkan runs happily with GLSL, Proton runs HLSL on Linux, SPIR-V isn't bad. And the new shading langu

I got this on all my automated test machines today too. It messes up my screenshots. I get the feeling Firefox is going to lose a lot of good will today.

I'm empathetic to this argument, but there needs to be some kind of differentiation between preserving culture and abuse for the sake of community. I can imagine the same argument applying to a cult with cruel traditions, or hazing in

Are you saying you believe it's truly impossible to create a new backwards compatible standard that expands the address space and doesn't require everyone to upgrade for it to work?

You can only really get a video stream out of Unreal Engine using WebRTC, so now clients can at least use ffmpeg/avconv instead of something even worse like libdatachannel.

Here's some deep context from someone who understands the situation. https://github.com/cmuratori/misc/blob/main/vulkan_dynamic_s... Additionally yes, traction has been pretty weak too. It's st

I don't think so, Flash Player was extremely stable and portable, swfs ran accurately (although sometimes slowly) on all targets, Safari, IE7, Nintendo Wii, didn't matter. Maybe wasm+Canvas is getting close to being stable. But if

There's lots of algorithms and patterns that use "while (1) {" And of course, you can't really know if a loop is infinite because of the halting problem.

`svc 0x80` is the command to execute any syscall, which syscall exactly is executed is based on the register x16, presumably the app make a very large amount of unrelated syscalls, so it wouldn't be useful to break on that, that's

If you fade out the edge pixels like that, won't that create a 1px gap between adjacent squares? What do you do about that? I think this is the same method Skia uses, and it doesn't work for rendering vectors from SWF files in my

Mm, fairly mild joke. I don't think a human would have been banned for that. But deploying an AI on twitch and not filtering out variations for "trans" and the names of ethnicities is pretty foolhardy imo.

Game devs have similar issues. They need fairly wide API access, and if you don't ship inside of Steam, or have an exe generated from Unity or Unreal. Then SmartScreen (part of Defender?) will often flag you.

I feel like making this multithreaded is a bit overkill. Or at least it should have presented a situation with many more units. I made an RTS in C++ a while ago and was able to build paths for many units per frame on a fairly large map. And
