"They are about the same price and the iPad is a far more elegant and simple solution." - Elaborate. You didn't give any substance at all and that's an empty statement. How is it more elegant? It is an accessory. You can bet that the Micros

Very true! As a company selling a new product you have to get approval from the nerds to have a successful product. I like this.

I think that is a big tech geek bias. It's really hard (impossible) to put ourselves in the shoes of the non-nerd, but we should try. I don't think the non-nerd will care as much as you do, or if at all. I think that leading with the RT mod

They're obviously going to keep pushing lower and lower price points. This is just the beginning. But the point is that android phones you get for 150$ or less off contract are rough, very rough. If you can offer someone a phone that's a we

It's syncs contacts to windows live, so that's just incorrect. You haven't seen all WP8 features yet so I wouldn't be so quick to judge.

I wouldn't be quick to keep saying it'll only be on one carrier... We saw what stunts nokia is pulling with giving AT&T exclusivity on the 820 and then proceeding to give exclusivity of variants of the 820 to other carriers. There's no

This article completely ignores the concept of mindshare. Which equates to how many people are thinking about a product, and thus how many people are more likely to buy that product someday. In 2010 Nokia's mindshare was slim to none and sl

Definitely a click bait title. Since all of the WP7 apps will run on WP8, there really is not much risk in releasing the SDK with the phones. I agree that it's not ideal, but I think that they're doing it this way because they want to annou

Microsoft went into retail not to actually make more money but to increase mindshare and build up the brand. That said though, I expect things to change a good bit come this holiday season.

Exactly. What the above poster doesn't realize is that he has already been misproven. There are many companies willing to go up against the guys who make the operating system. It's not the end of the world, it's just the addition of strong

It really doesn't matter. The reason this was done is because it fits in better with each application being searchable (you see how this is more consistent?). Once the user realizes this once, the problem is gone. It's really not much harde

Everyone cries and whines and moans about UI changes. It's like facebook changing their UI. It'll keep happening for a while, until eventually people will accept it and realize that they're being stingy.

That's rough. I know a couple Canadians who went through a similar process (also for Microsoft) and had no problems. Shame to hear this guy had such a shitty experience.

The only reason the Microsoft Store "...[is] not even close to as effective to what Apple has built" is because of brand and hype. But I have a feeling this is going to shift over time. It won't happen overnight, it'll be gradual, but it wi

False. Click bait title. Nokia is not going anywhere. While we are glad to see HTC step up to the podium, we're still extremely good friends with Nokia.

The core operating system swap. Taking a desktop operating system and shrinking it down to run on a phone is no easy task. In fact, it's a gargantuan undertaking. Add a bunch of new end user features and you get that the amount of technical
