I’m sure the Ju-88 thing probably happened. IIRC there were at least a couple instances of caputured B-17s trying to slip into formations and shoot at damaged bombers, and there were definitely a few cases of captured allied fighters being

Fair warning, I used to work for the company that makes BofA’s bill pay product, and it can have a mind of its own. Even payments that should always be electronic will sometimes decide to mail checks for reasons that you’ll never a get a go

For all intents your checking account is a locker full of money that’s unlocked for the taking. The check is nothing more than an archaic means of conveying your “locker number” to someone else’s bank. I highly recommend keeping your checki

Actually the aux tank wasn't added to the Mustang purely for range. A big factor was helping to balance out the heavier Merlin engine. Pilots would typically leave about 1/3 of the tank to keep ideal balance and have an emergency

The US Navy has actually had automatic carrier landing systems since the 1960s. The advancement here appears to be the carrier "taking over" the plane in order to land it with no input from the pilot.

Is it even possible to buy a non-smart TV today (not counting PC monitors)? I bought my TV in 2015 and even then it seemed like most of the non-smart options were overpriced older models with worse image quality, etc.

IME the more complex your code formatting, the less likely people are to do it, especially after your code has been touched by dozens of different people with a dozen different editors.

K&R isn't that terrible when code is neat and clean, but it starts to have trouble IMO particularly when declarations or conditions wrap to multiple lines. Compare the following examples... I personally have to stop and read the c

The scenario described is almost certainly the end of human civilization and the majority of life on earth. Assuming I’ve done the math right, an aphelion of ~5 AU and perihelion of ~0.9 AU gives a highly eccentric (e = 0.69) orbit taking 5

I guess the question is, what are you willing to give up to hit 120 or 240 fps? Most games that I'm aware of won't probably won't hit 120 fps today even if run on the most powerful hardware at the lowest graphics settings.

The engines used in most small aircraft are basically unchanged since the 1950s or 60s. Aircraft are required to have regular maintenance, including major overhauls, so while these engines are archaic in terms of technology they keep runni
