To each their own, I find Chrome's solution unusable past 20 tabs or so. Tab Groups and/or Tree-style tabs are pretty much required for working with hundreds of tabs, though.

Ortholinear or orthocolumnar layouts are much easier to touchtype with IME, this is also the layout of a numpad (straight rows, not a "typewriter" layout with staggered rows). I'm not sure why those are not popular, even amon

Ah, I've tried to make my Steam Deck+sway setup usable when undocked, but there are bugs everywhere, from wvkbd mishandling seats or straight up drawing an invisible user interface, to sway not detecting gestures (lisgd seems to work w

I really like the additional controls AnySoftKeyboard[1] brings: I like to configure it so that it always displays a left/right arrow above the keyboard to move the cursor. And if you "lift" (gesture up) the space key, there

Ah, that makes me think of the PlayStation Vita and its back-side touchpad. This could be a nice addition to smartphones. The only (substantial!) challenge is to make it usable while holding it.

In the early 2000s, it was quite common for 5.25" CD drives to have a 3.5mm audio jack port on the front, to play music independently of the computer. I can't remember ever making use of that feature.

Well, it sounds like you mostly have issues with Google (and Google devices). I'm pretty happy with my Fairphone 4 on LineageOS, personally. Murena also sells some degoogled out-of-the-box with /e/. I also like having root ad

Looks like a fun project, is it abstracted from the Discord API? How easy would it be to port it to other chat services like Matrix, Telegram, etc?

Anyway, interesting idea. As another comment pointed out, I wish there was an easy way to mount NFS and 9p shares as a user. I've been toying with 9p+Wireguard lately, as an alternative to SMB/Webdav/sftp/etc for sharing

Interesting to know, thank you. They seem to mostly use this to adjust the frequency of the induced current in the stator, as they control the rotation speed of a "virtual rotor" (rotation of the rotor + rotation of the magnetic f

I wonder if you could just feed HN titles with more than ~30 upvotes to an LLM and ask it to bring out similar topics. Not perfect, but I think it could work as a start.

Hmm, it feels like a CRDT + any overlay network (This is probably how you use tor or IPFS p2p) would get you there. Matrix p2p is developing pinecone [1] as an overlay network, which seems very aligned with your needs, though, as you say, i

I'm wondering if performance could be improved by controlling the polarity of the rotor coil fields, to push against the stator-induced ones. Since some semiconductor rectifiers are necessary in the stator, it doesn't sound much m
