Nominally done for your protection. Lowering power (clock) and heat load (fast fan) for unapproved gear prevents things from going dead and getting people REALLY mad and likely reduces warranty claims.

They had to release this as a web app because it's against app store rules to release something that emulates springboard or otherwise duplicate existing functionality. I understand app store protections help people a lot but silly rul

I see the attraction in that but for me the math works out to a net negative with the detractors I listed above and below. But on a walking path in the park listening to a podcast or the birds would be a completely different situation. It&#

Honestly it really says something about society that this social experience has degraded to this point. I don't know how it happened and I don't know how to fix it but being sick in a theater is not acceptable, more unacceptable t

Hope you got a refund, and if they did it's interesting they would refund rather than fix the seating issue.

I don't think this is wrong. Question is how much time does "nobody gets fired for buying IBM" buy you?

The very last times I went to a theater were to the "premium" theaters with big reclining seats but not even that was enough to get me back. I haven't been to a theater in probably fifteen years and I have no desire to. It&#x

I don't work with Cisco kit but it certainly seems like they are hostile in the support realm. Even if you buy something used and there are software patches available for it you can't get them without a support contract for exampl

> And, wouldn’t Apple just choose somewhere else to direct the funds otherwise? Ding! nailed it. These sweetheart deals exist because they know they are in competition with others and just want to capture a piece of it or risk losing it

I did this rabbit hole about 15 years ago and have a couple vanishing points as a result. Today Zebra Sarasa at work. Fountain pens are fun but fiddly with refills and blots. Fun to write with.

This probably won't resonate with you but; 15 minute city litmus test; what do they install first, new parks/scenery, better transport, and up to date amenities.... or the cameras, barriers and restrictions? That's the answe

Myself personally it's a 36 or 40 minute one way walk to two grocery stores by me. No sidewalks 90%. I'm not sure the big busy intersection even has ped cross walk buttons. <5 min drive, never any traffic. Own a house and decen

As I noted above it's probably healthier for fruits/veg to shop more than once a week but I just don't like the hassle of grocery shopping that often. If it was along the way from mass trans to my flat maybe, but one stop awa

When I lived in a condo with a shopping center ten minute walk away I still found myself driving it. Sometimes I carried stuff back but it felt like it was more of getting some exercise rather than convenience.

How is delivery any less impact on traffic from driving your own? It would save on parking space though.

Where's the carrot? Other than beating drivers over the head what is being done to help the situation? Better mass trans, bikes etc? They are doing that stuff right?

Do you live there? In a utopian ideal it seems kind of nice having "everything you need" close by. Thinking about it critically I currently live in a 15 minute city, but there is a car involved. I'm kind of confused about how

I don't think there is anything to tweak. It's probably designed to have less than 1mm when closed normally and the pressure of being in a book bag will easily flex the aluminum that much, if not bend it. As other said leave the o

Two late thoughts; apple just enabled notifications for web apps in safari. So in theory you could have a messaging app not in the store. Maybe. Not sure what the state of this is in android. Hopefully soon we will have sideloading on ios t
