The percentage has never really been for hosting, which would be worth a couple percent at most. It's been about access to the giant audience.

Anyone with any sense of these games work would see that modern games like Fortnite or Overwatch take more skill than typical arena shooters. You still need to have the raw mechanical aim skill, but now there are a host of other mechanical,

Sure, but even going to 25 or 20 percent would have been big. To go all the way down to 12% is absurd (though as a game dev I'm certainly not complaining!)

As a big fan of Fortnite I was ready to disagree with you but that's actually spot on. There is a massive difference in the pacing of the two games, and there are audiences for both.

That gets messy fast though. You start having to escape strings in your code, and potentially have a trickier time with autocompletion etc.

You are correct in general, but in this specific case the program is labelled "8-bit" because there is a palette limit of 256 different colors per model. Note: not output pixel colours, but rather colors that each voxel can be.

The real reason it's called 8-bit is because each model has a limit of 256 colours, NOT because of "8-bit" retro aesthetics. See: https://twitter.com/ephtracy/status/575207275985530880?s=20

This is the whole point. Indie devs don't need a CDN that can handle 50gb games, or most of those other services you listed... Yet we're stuck paying the full 30% that those mega studios that actually use those features are paying

From the article, we know there is a problem with the algorithm change because the "other product pages" graph stops matching the other graphs, see the orange line here after the start of October: http://greyaliengames.

Fortnite alone has more concurrent players than every game on Steam combined at around 8 million. Steam has between 10-20 million concurrent people with the client open, but not actually nearly that many playing games.

It's not a steal at all. Those things (especially stuff like hosting and bandwidth) cost a small fraction of the price. You can argue that it's worth it because of how popular Steam is, but it's getting harder and harder for

F is not superior to C, your argument for it makes very little sense, even from a plain human "everyday" (non-scientific) point of view. Can anyone sense when the temperature changes by a single degree in F? I doubt it. With C you

25+5 is too short but I found 48+12 worked well. With that said usually it's just about starting, once you start it's not nearly as hard to keep going.

So now you've said "You could just move somewhere mosquitoes don't thrive." And also "it's a big part of what keeps me from visiting home now". Surely you see how maybe some people would like to visit home

The article is about the area of UI design, which is part of a game's design but not the entire thing. It's entirely possible for a game to do well despite having a bad UI, but it would be foolish to assume that it did well becau

Saying you don't want self-driving cars really IS insane. They are already way better at driving than humans in many situations, and they are only going to improve with time. Even if you don't believe they are good enough now, to

I didn't even mention Watson, since I know nothing about it. Even if Watson is a complete sham, it doesn't mean ALL AI projects are shams! For example, you can't say that DeepMind is vaporware. AlphaGo is real, and it works.

What do you even mean? DeepMind is not vaporware, it really did revolutionize the world of Go. What about self-driving cars? They are actually working! Anyone who calls AI vaporware just has bizarre expectations that are based in sci-fi rat

Not sure how you can claim things like Deepmind are "vaporware" since it achieved exactly what it was intended to do. If you disagree that it should be called "AI", well that just comes down to semantics, but I think &qu

The other fun thing with WFC is that you can wrap the constraints on the edges (ex. matching the right edge of the rightmost tiles to the left edge of the leftmost tiles), which allows you to easily make tiling patterns. You can also start
