How can you say he has both a lack of personality and an arrogant attitude? I don't know how you could possibly listen to his interview with George Hotz (one of my favourites) and say that he has no personality. I think you have assume

I disagree with this. One of the reasons I like this podcast so much is that the philosophical questions often lead to guests revealing profound insights into their outlook on life (or at least you get to see more of the interviewee's

For another comparison, most people who consider themselves "gamers" wouldn't even count mobile games as "real" games... and yet: The App Store did pulled in nearly $1 billion of revenue per week in 2019. Of each we

The other commenters have already given you some good responses, so I will leave you to the classic response to the question "When will we see the Citizen Kane of games?" - "When will we see the Tetris of film?"

Input lag is annoying for sure, but it's the sort of thing where as long as it's consistent and not sporadic, you would mostly adapt to it... Especially assuming you're not playing some kind of competitive real-time game (whi

How is this not the same? I'm not seeing why you can't compare Halo with Counter-Strike. In Fortnite there actually are even mobile (iPad) players that put thousands of hours into the game and are better than 99% of PC players.

It really wasn't that popular initially, at least nowhere near what it is today. There were only 1.5 million sales in 2007, and about 12 million in 2008. For comparison, there were over 210 million sold in 2018.

This is the saddest part. Even with the Flash Player being killed Adobe could have done so much more with the authoring tool. Instead they did little incremental updated and basically let it (and the vibrant community around it) die off.

I don't really have anything to add... But as a former professional Flash developed, and now nearly 10 years doing game dev (with Unity), I agree 100% with what you said. It's not really about the language or about the Flash playe

What are your thoughts on Unity's Burst compiler? It allows for writing C# code that is compiled to code that is (theoretically) as performant (or even more so!) than regular C/C++ code.

These are really bad reasons to not use a language. Anyone who makes a language that is not like a popular language (ex C or C#) should have to do a lot of justification for it, not the other way around. Change for change's sake is b

Yeah I really enjoyed this interview. Made me respect him much more and realized that he actually is concerned about safety, specifically more than Tesla (especially when it comes to driver monitoring).

Maintaining a lawn is more than just mowing it. There's aerating/seeding, watering, pulling-weeds/pest-spraying, etc. The mowing is the easiest part, at least for my relatively small lawn.

I found Lex's podcast a few months ago after hearing his George Hotz interview. It's now become my favourite podcast. I really like the mix of technical and philosophical questions, often about the future of humanity.

Syntax is really not what makes most programming difficult at all. We have languages with really good syntax now, at least for the fairly low level most programming languages operate in (storing and retrieving variables, calling functions,

You mean Unreal Engine, not Unity. Unity has a regular subscription ($150/month per seat). With Unreal Engine, there is also an exception for hobbyists, specifically you only have to pay 5% to Epic if you make more than $3000 in a quar

I'm not a Godot user, I'm a Unity user, but the fact that you don't have to pay is one of the big draws of Godot. Unity Pro is $150/month per seat. The fact that it's open source is also big, because there are often

There are many stars and planets much much older than ours. Earth is 4.5 billion years old, the oldest exoplanet we've seen is 12.8 billion. The terms of the Fermi paradox are are designed to cover things like this.

To be clear, I played well over 1000 hours in 1.6, I'm not new to the game! I've also played CS:GO, but only 50 hours or so. I think you might be getting things backwards. The fact that it has a low time to kill means it takes le

Correct. This is perhaps most clearly an intentional design decision with Ana from Overwatch who has a gun that switches from projectile to hitscan depending on whether you are scoped in.

Is this even true? The only thing "skillful" about CS guns is that they have fixed spray patterns. Otherwise it's very much point and shoot because they're all hitscan. Burst fire weapons (which aren't very popular
