I mean most of then say explicitly that it’s because of this decision in their tweets. Would you really go out of your way to say something like that if you didn’t believe it?

Maybe you need to read the article again, because in this comment you are conflating different kinds of “value” as if they are all equally meaningful.

It seems like a good idea, but won’t many types of weeds just grow back if you don’t also remove their roots?

I just skimmed through a youtube video on how to change break pads and of course it turns out to be way more complex and difficult than you describe. This is a common flaw I’ve noticed among people who encourage doing DIY everything, not be

It can, but it really depends on the personalities of you and your partner. It works best if your partner also has some independent work they need to get done (or enjoy doing, ex a hobby).

You can still do side projects when you’ve got kids. You just have to treat your priorities seriously, which usually means having to give up most of the netflix/social-media time. You also have to realize that in a two parent household

As a parent of two kids who are both past that age, I feel like your perspective on this is all wrong. You’ve given 70+ years to someone else. And you haven’t lost those years at all, since presumably you also have a meaningful day job (and

Huh! There’s a great song with this name and I always assumed it was just some randomly chosen words and not a reference to a real thing. The song is Jumping Frenchmen of Maine by El Ten Eleven. The band is only two people, a drummer and a

If I was going to do a lot of DIY stuff, the last thing I would do would be my brakes. I’ve got no problem paying for the professional there.

This sort of thinking leads to codebases that are too abstract, where it’s hard to follow the flow of execution. There’s nothing wrong with 5 levels of nesting. It’s much easier to follow than 5 separate functions.

Based on your comments here, you seem to have not read the actual article, which specifically states that this treadmill is much more dangerous than a regular treadmill.

It’s true that it’s hard to know for sure, but there are a bunch of things you can do. One of the most obvious is to see what other reputable sources say about the author. What’s their track record in the past? Then for any specific piece,

Anyone who thinks that electronic music is “done” should listen to Iglooghost. Most fresh and unique music I’ve heard in a long time. It sounds like it was made by aliens (while still beinhg quite catchy and listenable, IMO).

This is completely the opposite of my own experience. Using “var” makes the code easier to write AND easier to read. The code becomes decluttered from all the mess of types everywhere and you can read what it is actually doing. Anyone who n

Would have been a much better species? Bright lights are a very recent part of our species’ history. It’s not like humanity had a reputation for being particularly civilized before the invention of electric light.

It wouldn’t have been better, it just would have been more high level and generalized, but I don’t think that’s what the author was going for. I found the amount of detail refreshing, and as someone about to make a GPU based 2D display tree
