Correct. Nuclear still requires water, and the water pumps/pipes are freezing because they weren’t properly weatherized.

We can talk about a Jobs diaster without even leaving the field of mice. The puck mouse was an absolute usability nightmare. It had a circular shape and would always end up twisting slightly so you could never consistently move the directio

There’s obviously something wrong with that, because now he is unable to release his app on other platforms where it would probably find a larger audience. To be clear, C# is a great language for this project. It’s the choice of using a pla

I vaguely remember a program called “Lathe” that might be what you’re describing. I can’t find any info on it now though.

Very cool, but seems like a bizarre choice to use C# and then lock in to Apple’s stuff. If you’re making a 3D app with C# you might as well use Unity. Something like this could even find an audience on Steam.

Ahh ok. I’ve been experiencing sporadic peripheral neuropathy and cold sensitivity for years, which my doctor has been unable to diagnose, so I was just curious if it might be a symptom of something else somehow. Thanks for the information,

Yep, this was my understanding too. It doesn’t change the fact that the area in space and time is now occupied by grabby aliens. The model and diagrams could easily be modified to use some heuristic like allowing older civilizations to take

What caused the fatigue and cold sensitivity and peripheral neuropathy? The cancer or the various cancer treatments?

This really isn’t what Unity does. Unity is mostly just the engine and level editor. The thing that made Flash special was that it was a complete vector animation authoring tool first, before you get to all the scripting etc.

Maybe it’s just me, but I find all of the “maybe it’s just a _____” explanations are still really fascinating each in their own way.

Of course many topics of the book aren’t covered, this entire post is only about chapter one! If you actually read the post you will see it is pretty damning.

Electroplankton is my all time favourite. Then there’s also games like FRACT OSC, Sound Shapes, and Everyday Shooter.

They are fantasy UIs, you’ve just forgotten that fantasy is a real word with a specific meaning and not just a genre of fiction.

The expectations have nothing to do with this. It’s 100% due to the issues on the last gen consoles, and specifically the PS4 in this case. Horrible graphics and performance, tons of bugs, and way too many actual crashes.

I just switched back to iOS (iPhone 12 Pro) after using Android for 3 years, and there are a lot of things iOS does poorly, notifications being the most glaring one IMO.

Dear ImGui is not some half-baked experiment. It's used in tons of real world projects right now. The main way I've seen it used is for developer-facing GUI (debug views, tool/editors, etc)

That's a pretty poorly reasoned counter-argument. There doesn't need to be an exact dollar value cutoff point to argue that having a billion dollars is immoral.

The Safari web browser on mobile runs better than if you ran it embedded in an app. And also you can't run any other browser engine in an app.

Hah, nope. A delay of 150ms doesn't mean that events only happen every 150ms. Also even if events were sent in 150ms chunks, the offset of time within that chunk would still matter. With that said, most games do have a maximum tick rat

That is not what a walled garden is. If the developers have a choice of where to sell their software, and choose to make it exclusive, that is totally fine! It's their software, they can choose how it is sold. It's only a walled g
