There are a few reasons. There are still a lot of systems that still record to tape, typically in your local minimart, garage, etc. Cameras in malls have a large field of view and cover a large area, so there are very few pixels on target.

I've always used CiteSeer for my computer vision research: http://citeseer.ist.psu.edu/ I don't know how it rates for other fields though.

I'm currently working my way through it and I agree. This is my first experience with a Lisp and the book is a great introduction. Great value for money, DRM-free ebook, updated code on GitHub - I couldn't ask for more. Definitely recommend

I agree with this - I think a lot of people lurk on HN (like me) and only join when they've got something worthwhile to say. It's when it's all take and no give that it becomes a problem.
