This used to actually work, at least on some sites. The text would load first, then it would reformat as the fonts and CSS assets are loaded. Ugly and frustrating, which is probably why, now you don't get content until the eye candy

Resonance! Very minor earthquakes can knock picutures off the walls, items off the shelves etc. if they just happen to hit the right resonant frequency. So if you flood the area with 8Hz-ish acoustic energy, some stuff will start to sha

My main computer monitor, ancient now (a Dell U2711), was a calibrated SRGB display when new and still gives very good colour rendition. Are movies produced in this colour space? No idea. But they all look great in SRGB. A work colleagu

But does applying the same transfer function to each pixel (of a given colour anyway) count as "processing"? What bothers me as an old-school photographer is this. When you really pushed it with film (e.g. overprocess 400ISO B&am

Works for static images, but if there's motion the "changing the filters" part is never fast enough, there will always be colour fringing somewhere. Edit or maybe it does work? I've watched at least one movie on a DLP

Stuff like this makes me feel so neurotypical. Really. I can have a sprited argument about the benefits of the K&R brace style, for example. But often I see articles about "ugly" vs. "beautiful" fonts and the diff

As an ESL immigrant, as it happens, I agree with this! Agree with sticking to a "Canadian" spelling. You'll prise the "u" in things like "colour" out of my cold, dead fingers, but just as Canada is a cul

Who cares if it's AI made or not. It's funny even as it is offensive to many. One thing I've always wondered, with outrage over ads like this, would this (old) ad now be considered funny or offensive? https://you

I'm old enough to remember the SGI tractor-trailer demo wagon where they were demonstrating their latest, $20K+, wares that could do immersive 3D graphics that were... crude compared to this. This was sometime in the 1990s. And by now
