Not really, the linux is a volunteer effort spearheaded by a non-profit where members take advantage of the advance of the kernel for their own products/ideals, while Google is very much a for-profit corporation which benefits here by

No, it's rather the idea that you cannot say "AI beats Go master" or "AI masters Go" if it didn't actually attain some sort of high ranking by itself. Beating a low-ranked player while still interesting is not
