How would you enforce per-driver speed limits? As it stands, car insurance sort-of does this: German policies usually reserve the right to refuse payment if you’re at fault and were going more than 130. How could this be managed for all the

Despite having occasionally enjoyed letting ‘er rip at 160-180 (about 100-110mph), I lean towards a 130 general limit - having a kid changes a lot of one’s priorities, it turns out. The author should have listed the fatalities by 100 millio

The financially-constrained people I know usually don’t use the IC/ICE - they take the extra hour or two to save 30+ EUR. Plus, making the IC/ICE all you can ride for 1/10th the current all-you-can-ride price would make getti

Someone in my extended family got caught seriously drunk driving in Mississippi, and probably because he was a neatly-dressed, well-spoken white guy, the court clerk subtly hinted that a $2000 donation to the county sheriff's departmen

As someone who grew up near Waco: QAnon isn’t the complete explanation, but it’s a factor, along with the frequent screeching about caravans of illegal alien criminals. It all kind of sloshes around in people’s heads around there.

Whenever I start thinking like this about my home state (yep, Texas), I remember all the people who can't leave, mostly due to finances, some due to family, and some like a close friend with severe muscular dystrophy for whom a trip

Something asked on every job application form in my mid-sized Texas hometown was whether you had a valid driver’s license and a car, even for jobs where driving wasn’t your main task. A job candidate without their own car was likely to have
