An interesting discussion on /r/AskEngineers: http://www.reddit.com/r/AskEngineers/comments/2w4q6j/worried... This seems to echo what's been said here, for the most part, but the concern o

I feel like you have to have a pretty good boss for this to be truly applicable. I'm not sure I've ever been in a position where I've had time for side projects, let alone had a boss that would have rewarded that time spent

What a charged headline. Of course abuse is not ok - anytime, to anyone. Cramming the word into this title is pure incitement.

I think this is because of the inherent inequality that exists at work. In a typical social network, everyone is essentially "equal" when it comes to who you know and interact with. At work, you necessarily are very closely involv

I agree - but the way to achieve less waste in government is not to pass more laws and regulations that feed the beast.

It doesn't have to be a mass collective that starts the movement. In fact, all that is required is just turning down a job that doesn't pay enough. Individuals can make a difference, not just organized bullying. You're settin

Why does this have to be solved at the legislative level? Can't we rally around the idea that we are worth more than we're being compensated, and change our behavior accordingly, or is that relegated only to legalizing pot?

Vibration only becomes a problem when the scales of the drag/lag and rotational frequency are similar. My gut feeling is that this will only happen when your lift-to-drag ratio is close to 1, so not in any meaningful case.

There is a limit on the available angle that can be "wobbled". Once you exceed ~20 degrees IIRC, the displacements perpendicular to the stroke start causing problems. I think the more interesting interaction is between the number

Yeah, I'd be interested in seeing a life expectancy for these. If they're really all that's being said, I'm hopeful for the future.

I agree. This is awesome, and an impressive project, but I just don't see the usefulness -- yet. Are these able to be output in a STEP or IGES format? Compatibility with the current standards is a major step. (I am so sorry for the pun

I would contend that having a high degree of education in anything develops certain thinking abilities that are widely transferable. At some point, they transform from being a "layman" into being an "amateur philosopher"

But that's the beauty of hiding behind a company name. Only the people who have their ear to the ground during this fiasco will know not to trust the founders when their next company is named FaceFlick.

This is a good point that I forget about. People seem to assume that just because the prices being charged are insane (and they are), then the business must be lighting cigars with $100 bills. There is a reason that the prices are so high

Nothing about this is exploitative. Poor people have a very high chance of not paying these debts, so they are charged a much higher fee over time instead of being able to pay a lump sum. These are not necessities for living. iPads, couches

I see a lot of people saying that money isn't an issue they would leave a job for. To me, money is the #1 thing that could make me leave a job. Maybe not 5%, but it realistically wouldn't take more for me to bail. 10% is almost a
