I mostly agree with you but I have 2 points: 1) I wouldn't say "from being short...", I think it's more accurate to say "from JUST short...". My reasoning here is that we have deeper long games, heck Knights o

If your new work is more than 50 miles from your old work, you can write the moving expenses off your taxes. I'm not a tax expert, but I believe that is still correct.

When my last company did the Open Office thing, they gave us little tables, and told us that personal items were not encouraged.

My last company visited a company with open office and took pictures to prove to us how great it is. In the pictures the people are hunched down behind their screens, to avoid the distraction of the person facing them, and 90% have head ph

Paul Laughton was my boss for a bit, his amazing effort doesn't surprise me a bit. I hope I have adopted some of his style into my own.

I made games for 30+ years and I had this exact question about year 4. I was sitting at home, writing some 6502 I think, and my cousin called. She had to call to tell me about a Commodore 64 game she bought from FisherPrice. She started

Did I read that right? You think the games industry doesn't have that attitude?

One of the odd misconceptions I've had to deal with, 1/3 of one of my teams is offsite, is the idea that Daily Stand Up has to be in the morning. We change the question from "What did I do yesterday?" to "What did

I'd love to hear your thoughts on single founder startups. I don't think I can do it all, I just I can start it by myself and then attract the right partner. Crazy?

That was my thought too. No reason to buy AMC the cable channel since it makes zero content. Just think, if you could reserve a theater, show some Netflix movie and split the proceeds.

I'm not an expert in copyright law by any means. I only recall the story I heard when the man who put the copyright information on the paper released a book a couple of years ago. I'm forgetting his name at the moment.

I remember hearing the story of how the text was written and at the last minute, as copies were being made, the lawyer for King added the Circle C and copyright info. Apparently the King family has benefitted financially by that last minut

Just last week an intern died on her bike. The driver of the truck said he just didn't see her. Not worth it in SF, in my opinion.

I think a good sense of humor is an advantage at every company. I'm a Scum Master, been at it 7 years, and I shudder to think what my experience would be like if I didn't have a sense of humor. (Some say over active, but let'

I think this is the main point that I repeat over and over, the UCMJ is that he swore to uphold and abide by and by THAT rule of law he was tried against. Being in the military is different than NOT being in the military.
