Did he ever explain why he was banned from Something Awful? Surprised it never came up. The Old Internet remembers.

You're right - it doesn't apply to culture. The "corporate person" is being a sociopath as usual and rather than saying "it harms our company" they attempt to spin it into something that hurts the individuals t

Nothin like a good old economics circle jerk. I think it's time HN applied the 'no politics' rule to economics too. Nobody is right, nobody is wrong, and nobody ever changes their mind.

Unfortunately corporate "people" act like sociopaths 99.99% of the time. This is certainly a Good Thing, but I don't blame people for knee-jerk skepticism.

Microsoft's social voting brigade is out in force today because of Microsoft's annual convention thing. Today HN is a safe space for Microsoft supporters.

Regardless of my username, I really like this product. Microsoft is the first to do it and (I assume) it works seamlessly with Azure. Microsoft is certainly ahead of the pack with this product.

I'm surprised that you're foolish enough to fall under the assumption that people here are somehow smarter or better. They are not. This is simply a web site with zero barrier to entry. I don't trust Yelp either. There hav

IBM will offshore 8 out of 10 positions by 2017 https://www.theregister.co.uk/2016/03/07/ibm_offshoring/ Have fun with your "new collar" - don't let it choke you too much.

Yeah, I don't know why HN doesn't change this story to it's proper, correct title. Current title makes it look like Wall Street it saying it. The real title makes it clear that the CEO is saying it, which, as a result, makes

It's not. Not to get too political but there are two groups: "the people" and "business". Watch every decision the current administration makes. It's helpful for "business" and hurts "the peopl

Downvote any article that mentions Diane Greene. Her job is literally "Google Cloud Hype-woman". There is nothing of substance here or in any interview with her. Nothing more than hot air and marketing bullshit.

What is the technical reason for Microsoft's actions? I've used Windows for decades and don't recall anything like this happening in the past.

I love tech: Take something old (apprenticeships), re-package it as something new (a farm team) and bam: Instant, free, PR for zero innovation.

I love watching the evolution of HN sometimes. Outrage of the Week (TM) story, nothing to do with hacking or technology - 62 points in under an hour. Mind bending. Let the circle jerk begin.

Thanks! You and the others are right: I didn't know JSON was serialized. I can see why something in binary would be faster than structured text (think assembler vs Python). Thanks again.

Can someone explain to an amateur why serialization is faster than say passing raw JSON? It seems like parsing JSON would be faster than the serialize -> deserialize process but with the popularity of things like Protobuff it's clea

The bonus pool is finite. Teams should use their germs to make other teams sick so they get a larger slice of the bonus pool.

I love it when real news like this gets 40 upvotes but stuff that's blatant PR gets hundreds. HN is now a place to discuss corporate press releases and little more.

100% agree. People fight their own little personal battles (unrelated to the article) in the name of pride and internet points. The comments sections are almost impossible to read because the signal to noise ratio is getting so large.
