A reference point in case you’re interested… Not sure what it is today, but about 25 years ago, the standard 30-minute TV show had 22 minutes of content and 8 minutes of ads. An hour long show was exactly double that, at 44 minutes of conte

I like the analogy of compression, in that a distilled model of an LLM is like a JPEG of a photo. Pretty good, maybe very good, but still lossy. The question I hear you raising seems to be along the lines of, can we use a new compression m

I disagree with "basic human rights". They aren't. And the reason they aren't is because one person's mandatory minimum vacation time is another person's liability. Yeah, it's great for the employee - I to

First, your last point answers your first question: a non-unified market is an implicit result of too many regulations. Harmonizing them would create a more unified market. The US is efficient because it is more homogenous. That efficiency

That’s absolutely asinine and not at all what I said. The EU over regulates things like tech and that why they won’t be successful at have an AI tech scene. Over time, anyone good will migrate to the US or China where they can work faster

The money doesn’t matter. The goals don’t matter. The people don’t matter. The only thing that matters is how much regulatory red tape is involved. My guess is that the paperwork will kill this. Read the announcement. Too much discussion

Seems the 2 biggest trends in phones are satellites and AI. To me at least, everything else is just noise when a new phone comes out.

DeepSeek is an open source model. You can download it and run it locally on your laptop already. So any OpenAI user ( or competitor even) could take it and run a hosted model. You can even tweak the weights if you wanted to. Why pay for Op

Given the release of the new DeepSeek R1 model [0], OpenAI’s future revenue stream is probably more at risk than it was a week ago. [0] - https://arstechnica.com/ai/2025/01/china-is-catching-up-with...

You made me think of an interesting aspect of Meta’s plans. If Meta allows their own bots but blocks 3rd party bots, could that be an antitrust concern? IANAL, so I’m just asking a question here.

No - I’m specifically saying they cannot do that. Like I said - their internet service cannot block or slow down any site or app. If they want to create their own streaming service and give you fast access to it, they can - but they cann

Maybe I’m missing something, but this is a good thing, as it will finally allow us to fix this problem. Hear me out… Net Neutrality was always very poorly defined from a delivery perspective in that it limited companies’ and consumers’ opti
