I remember chatting on the RepRap 3D Printer forums in the early 2010s, everything searchable by Google and static text. That mode is long gone now, Discord's superior UX seems to have swallowed up most of the forums.

A bit ugly, but seems powerful. Very similar to tagged template literals in JS.

There's a point in the chart of real ecological outcomes where holding onto an older car is far more "eco-friendly" than buying a Tesla. It's imperative we take this into account now that we're seeing monstrosities

It really does. I may have to start doing something like this myself, it's got a different feel than a blog.

Thought this was really neat- it's a small game studio's custom editor, debugger, session replay and C/C++ dialect in a fifteen minute demo.

This is extremely cool but I'm a bit confused on the licensing/source/pricing story.

Worrying about the retrieving unwanted info from the models pales in comparison to the issues we'll have when people start hooking these things up to external systems. It matters a lot more when your WhateverGPT hallucinates if it has

I've recently set up my work laptop and home desktop to run through USB-C. Power/Video/Data to the laptop from the monitor, and Data to the desktop from the monitor, both through USB-C. There's an extra DisplayPort conne

iOS spotlight used to work well- now there's a three second delay at times while it fetches the internet-enabled features. All I want is it to find my apps for me!

Not PHP. I did an internship at a PHP shop where the engineers used Jetbrains, so I assumed debugging was on the table. I spent a week on and off figuring out how to set up a good debugger and realized I was the only person in the ~20 engin

I'm finding myself in a similar situation. Moved across the country to an LA tech job for a mostly in-person team less than a year ago. We had a reorg and now most of the new team is remote, manager in eastern time, office empty most d

Haha yes- and then when I open a new machine or somehow lose shell history it takes me a bunch of time to get back up to speed. IMO worth it for me but it can be a speed bump.

I use a Keychron tenkeyless at work, it was relatively inexpensive and came with MacOS keys (a necessity for me). I added O-rings to make it quieter for open office use.

I've used Unity extensively and Godot 3.x for some experiments. There's some differences and rough edges but everything is just so much faster that I've found it easy to pick up. No waiting for stuff to reload, etc.

In college we'd run a Plex/backups/Minecraft server in an old HP box on the floor. It survived a very hostile environment and was very educational to work with.
