So in this specific case, if I understood correctly, here’s what should happen: Interrupt(?) fires to trigger hypervisor, hypervisor figures out what it needs to do, jumps to that code, does its job, returns. The “figured out what it needs

And it’s not. They’re working on it, I just saw a post about it today. But Intel and AMD post documents to explain how to use their hardware. Apple doesn’t. So it’s not an equivalent effort by any stretch.

They publish documentation because they need OEMs to be willing to support their products. Apple doesn’t. Apple consumes it, so Apple always has a customer.

It may be too hard to do a good retrofit. If you basically have to tear the entire plane apart and rebuild and recertify it to put batteries in the right places, maybe the costs aren’t worth it for potential customers. I know many planes us

This is why I generally try to avoid it and just call it “Eastern“ or “Eastern US“ if talking with someone who might not be in the US. Which is annoying.
