So true. Recent changes to Xcode have meant that on device debugging now launches WAY slower for me every time. Once it’s going it’s fine. But an extra 20 seconds every time you start the app just kills things for me. It was never instant b

Can someone comment on the new dual die thing they’re promoting for how they make the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips? How is that different from the silicon interposer they were using before? The big change is the two dies don’t have to fabbed nex

Until I found out reading the article I have thought the headline was a joke and I was going to end up on a think piece or satire.

I don’t see the point. It works well, and I can’t think of anything in the discussions I’d like changed. So I’m happy they leave it as is. Similarly I find old.reddit nearly perfect, though the way they crammed in multi-image support is a p

Oh wow I hadn’t noticed that. It’s especially noticeable when “walking” down the street between points. I’m so glad to finally have that feature in my area. It was the one thing I missed from Google Maps which I otherwise avoid.

Look I’m happy to play “pin the tail on the finance bros”, and I hate crypto with a passion, but I don’t see evidence here. The company in charge of a crypto thing made a sudden (and I assume unexpected) withdraw of $150 million. Jane Stree

Thank you. I figured it had to be a misnomer. That makes sense.

Did the minicomputers of the time have MMUs? I thought UsagiElectric showed a case where his Centurion didn’t, but I may be misremembering.

What does it mean it doesn’t have an anode? How is the other pole connected to the battery?

Yeah it really was an interesting choice on their part. Makes sense as a move for TI. Not the target market.

by MBCook 8mo ago
Wow. The TI-99 is such a perfect fit for this too given the chip was designed for multi-user computing in a way other home computer chips weren’t. All due to TI’s desire to use the same chip standards across all their machines big and small

I can get to 1300, though it’s harder there and there were a couple words that I just couldn’t figure out. For me 1200 is off a cliff, just like the author describes. I can get a few words here or there but comprehension is just gone.

True, but they already exist. Hydrogen stations don’t. If you have to build new ones, especially if you have to supply them with enough power to create their own hydrogen for water, what’s the difference from just building EV chargers? And

Don’t forget keeping everything cold enough. On the vehicle side, you can make a gasoline tank in pretty much any shape you want. We have lots of experience making batteries in different shapes thanks to cell phones. High-pressure tanks onl

Is the author arguing anything about eye strain? The word “strain“ doesn’t even appear on the page. I think they’re purely talking about the idea that cutting back on blue light will help you sleep better. Nothing else. Why would the author

I wasn’t aware Java had Vulkan bindings. So this is JNI I’m guessing? This makes sense. I guess I’m a bit surprised they were still OpenGL anywhere. I never really got into Minecraft though, so I can’t pretend I know much about its current

They could have done that day 1 of Apple Silicon. It’s clear Apple went out of their way to make Asahi possible in a secure way. I believe people on the Asahi project have said as much.

I think we’d see praise, but maybe not as much. Every time it’s clear Tesla screwed up it’s an incredibly obvious thing to do to compare them to the number one self driving car out there. Tesla provides such an obvious anchor point for com
