The last Mac with good PCIe slots was the 2019-2023 Mac Pro. So that’s almost a decade ago, and sold poorly. It never got a real refresh. Before that was the pre-trash can Mac Pro in 2006-2012. So that was canceled most of a decade before t

So perhaps this is a regression specifically in the arm64 code, or said differently maybe it’s a performance bug that has been there for a long time but covered up by the scheduler part that was removed?

It wouldn’t be the first time one of the other maintainers ran afoul of “Linus’s law“. He may simply be waiting until more is known on exactly what’s causing it.

The government doesn’t care? They’re a minority of the market? The vast majority of their computers didn’t have slots to put Nvidia GPUs in, and now none of them do?

I’d just like to thank the author for giving the correct t reason for the Winchester Mystery House instead of just blindly repeating the “she went crazy” line story as truth.

I bought a pair of 4 TB SSDs for like $300-350/ea two years ago. I don’t remember exactly. Around Christmas I tried to order one more. They wanted to above MSRP, like $500. Given the price of everything else I decided to just bite the

Apple doesn’t make an 4k external monitor. They’re likely all on Studio Displays.

As soon as I saw this announced, I wondered if this is why we haven’t seen OLED MacBook Pro yet. Apple already uses similar tech on the phones and watches.

I will say I’m surprised how far apart the two boxes are in the car. I guess they’re not where I thought. I would assume they’re both up near the dash.

If you could find a good way to communicate it to people that they would believe (X billion whatever is pretty abstract) it could also really help with upgrades. All of us know phones are basically fast enough and have been for a long time.

Wouldn’t it be interesting if Apple provided different models to different iPhones? So due to hardware capabilities the iPhone 20 Pro gets an X billion parameter version but the regular 20 gets only gets (2/3 * X) billion? That would p

The ruling said that they don’t have to. Going with your point, it does not say they can’t monitor and then sell the list of pirates to Sony/etc. for some extra income. They just didn’t like doing it for free.

There is a spot near me near a local college that is a worthless dead zone for data. The signal is terrible, but it’s there. You can talk on the phone or send texts. Surfing is horrible. At times you get great speeds. Two seconds later it f

I’m honestly amazed they tried that. It’s been so long, it felt like a play to cache in on the name but I feel like a huge chunk of people don’t really remember it or weren’t even around for it.

It kind of doesn’t matter. The thing that makes Reddit, to me, is its size. Lemmy will never get there, so it won’t be able to replace it for me. I love Mastodon, it’s what I use, but it’s not what I lost with Twitter. Some stayed, some wen

I suspect I will too. I’ve been playing with the app a bit as it’s easier for me on my phone to view subs that are mostly pictures (e.g. awuariums). But I only do it from time to time. Apollo was much better, of course.

This is why I pay to get rid of ads in things I like. Podcasts and TV are the big ones. I just started watching season 2 of Jury Duty on Amazon. I had deleted the app when they announced that as a paying subscriber I would be getting ads. O
