Because every Android device running an certain version of an OS all have exactly the same functionality for the most part. iOS might have everyone on the same version, but features are pruned for older hardware. As if getting through one s

sure, but are you implying that taking your eyes off the road to look down is safer than having directions superimposed on the road, because you're driving and not flying?

Windows doesn't have the best power consumption--the facts are irrefutable --it's empirically visible. In the Surface's defense, it is running a wacom digitizer over a 1080p IPS display. Not only is it pushing 2x the pixels

Right, at least the bad trackpad is offset by the fact that you can touch. The need for apple-level trackpad is offset by the fact that you can manipulate pages with your fingers, instead. And from what I've heard and used, both the to

You compare the battery life, but not the screen to the macbook air? The screen is higher resolution, has a better coating, and is touch. Other than that, it's smaller and lighter (around 20%, actually), and comparably priced ($1299 fo

In regards to too generous permissions--I can certainly see that sometimes. The one flashlight app I was using wanted network connectivity, access to contacts, etc. The solution? Find a new one that only needs use of camera hardware. Not al

Are the pieces in the outfit generally specific to that outfit? This is an interesting idea, but the value proposition to buyers is much higher if you're selling a few pieces that can go together, but are also very versatile in that

I've been looking for a replacement for Sparrow after it's gone unsupported. Will definitely check this out and pass along any relevant feedback.

given that many cars manufactured today are drive-by-wire, isn't the exact same argument applicable today? What makes you think that updating your driving software will be like installing iOS 7?

I thought I read a month or two ago about a ruling that basically said that saying sorry is not admission of guilt. I can't seem to find the article in relation to it, I'm just saying that it might not hurt as much as you'd t

I'm not going to lie--I think buying any device running 2.3 at this point is a giant waste of money, comparable to buying a laptop with Windows XP on it. There is no reason. Nexus 4s are recently out of stock at $200, and the Nexus 5 w

There are certain circumstances where you want to support ie6, though not many outside enterprisey things. ie6 has lost widespread support. Heck, google stopped supporting it three years ago

I will grant that it is a bad comparison. But, not for percentage based reasons. I initially wrote the comment that abandoning <14 now is like abandoning ie6 back in 2010, when google dropped support[1], but percentage wise, that's

I feel that supporting Android 2.3 at this time is roughly equivalent to supporting IE6. For the majority of people, just stop targeting 2.3 support as a requirement. Perhaps it'll net you some additional marketshare in emerging market
