From time to time, I am greeted with looks of shocked disbelief when a younger employee finds out how much of my employer's business gets done on OpenVMS Alphas and IBM Mainframes. They think it's stupid that we're not runnin

When you equip men for war, they start to think of themselves as soldiers. At one time, we at least used to pretend that cops were public servants. We need to go back to that.

My belief is that it's primarily about access to one resource. Wombs. Everything else is ancillary. What makes a racist more irate than anything? Seeing one of "Them" with one of "Our" women. Denying good housing, e

Your question presupposes that there would be no recourse. I never advocated such a position. It was a strawman.

It's a strawman. Debt currently works that way in the vast majority of cases. If you don't pay Comcast or Verizon (or whomever) for your internet service, they'll stop providing service to you. They'll also report you to

My primary point is that it's not wrong to pay the minimum necessary tax bill because taxation isn't a moral enterprise. It happens without regard to morality. It's amoral. To address your direct question, it's my positi

My point is the same. Neither circumstance is more moral than the other. They are both inherently amoral. Of course, taxation is legal. Using the tax code to minimize one's tax liability is legal and also amoral.

The base principle is that society is made up of people and those people then choose the rules for that society. If you don't like that, you can often vote to change those rules, or you can choose another society. Or you can use the

Pretending that your definition of morality is the only legitimate one is naive. Is it moral for the mafia to use the threat of force to take a percentage of a business's income? I'd submit that it's not and I suspect that yo
